  1. DS got accepted to Butler University (with a very nice scholarship to boot)!
  2. I hope things get better for you soon. :grouphug:
  3. Yuck, that's sickening. I liked it better when people like that didn't have the ability to broadcast every single one of their stupid thoughts...
  4. I wear Ugg boots or Heat Holders socks around the house and use a Fashy hot water bottle at night to warm up the bed.
  5. :grouphug: Wow, your mom is awful. If I were in your shoes, I'd cut ties and move on with my life. I have absolutely no tolerance for narcissists.
  6. Yes, our family doctor diagnosed him and wrote the rx. We were fortunate that he was diagnosed soon after exposure. He had a very visible bullseye rash that developed a few days after he began feeling ill. ETA: Lyme is very common where I live. I've known many people, dogs and horses who have had it. (In fact, one of my dogs is currently being treated with doxy because he tested positive at his checkup, despite having the Lyme vaccination. Almost all my dogs have tested positive for it at some point.) Everyone I've known who has had Lyme has recovered fully after the standard few weeks of antibiotics. Not to say that complications don't happen or that further treatment is never needed, but I personally have not heard of that happening in my area. Hopefully, that will be your experience as well and the doxy will have you feeling better soon. :001_smile:
  7. My son was very ill with Lyme six years ago and took doxycycline for three or four weeks (can't remember exactly, but it was definitely not more than 4 weeks). His symptoms cleared right up and he has not had any further problems. Hope you feel better soon!
  8. Haven't you ever hidden out in the bathroom just to enjoy the peace and quiet? I do that all the time. My kids do, too. I have three teens who spend loads of time in the bathroom and honestly, it's never crossed my mind to be annoyed. Now, if we only had one bathroom and someone was hogging it all the time, then yeah, I'd be annoyed - but luckily, we have four bathrooms, so that's not a problem. I would definitely back off on this issue.
  9. I love the Zyliss Lock 'n' Lift can opener.
  10. Good morning! Feed dogs, cats & horses School Finish up lots of odds and ends from my to-do list Clean (floors are getting refinished early next week, so house needs to be in order!) Research which cello to get for DD
  11. I'm so sorry. I have experience with other kinds of dog cancers, but not lymphoma. It is so hard. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  12. When my son had Lyme, his symptoms were similar to what you're describing - lethargic (to the point where he could barely walk from the car into the doctor's office), extremely achy, chills but no fever. No cough, though. He had the bullseye rash, but it didn't show up until several days after he started feeling sick. Hope you are feeling better soon!
  13. Good morning! Feed dogs & cats Feed horses School Order checks Take dog to vet for checkup & shots Go to bank & post office Order new shoes for kids

  16. My point is that there are millions upon millions upon millions of poor people on welfare in this country, and they all have proof of identity - which means that obtaining an ID is not the huge and insurmountable burden it's being made out to be. If it were, why would the government require proof of identity to access the very programs aimed at poor people?
  17. You also need an ID to sign up for welfare and other government programs - but I've never heard anyone claim that poor people are disenfranchised because they have to prove their identity to receive benefits. Apparently, ID requirement is only discriminatory when it comes to voting. ;)
  18. DS just got his acceptance letter from Colorado School of Mines. :001_smile:
  19. Holy cow, that bathroom!! Now I'm totally dying to know more about the owners and what could have possibly compelled them to decorate like that. Who would ever think to tack rope around a bathroom sink?? Not to mention the saloon doors/open bathroom situation. :scared:
  20. Feed dogs & cats Feed horses Vote Tidy up house Electrician & plumber coming today for some much needed home repairs Hair appt, for DD & I Grocery shopping Get gas Stop at yarn store so DD can stock up Help kids w/ schoolwork Pay bills if I have time
  21. My oldest started walking at 9 months but didn't talk until around 15 months (I remember being so relieved when he finally said his first word - "woof!"- while pointing at our dog). Then my next two kids were just the opposite, they were talking up a storm early but didn't start walking until later. Now, all three of them are teens who talk ALL the time. There's absolutely no difference whatsoever in their verbal skills!
  22. That happens to me when I'm stressed out.
  23. Oh, that is so sad! Something similar happened at a small high school in our area last year. I just can't imagine the pain these kids must have been feeling, and how difficult it must be for their families. :(
  24. Yes, two litter boxes should be fine for three cats. We have five cats now (full-time indoors) and three litter boxes. We used to have five litter boxes, but two of them never got used so I got rid of them. Of the three remaining boxes, only two of them get used on a daily basis, and someone will use the third box maybe twice a week or so.
  25. We were in a similar situation and ended up getting two kittens, a male and female sibling pair. It worked out perfectly. The two kittens played together and kept each other busy, and our older kitty didn't have to put up with being pestered.
