  1. How scary! I'm glad you are okay.Yes, it's time for a meltdown for a little bit.. :grouphug:
  2. We are in this same situation with archery. My youngest is a competitive archer and shoots with a team at a local shop. We like it there. We've made friends and enjoy the atmosphere. However, most of the team are girls who shoot recurves. My son is a compound archer. He doesn't receive the attention from the coaches that we think will help him advance. We ran into his old coach at the last big tournament. He's opening a shop in town soon and has asked to coach ds. We have discussed it with the current shop owner as an opportunity we can't pass up. While we appreciate all the shop has done for us and we certainly don't want to cause problems or burn bridges, this is an important step for ds to shoot with a compound coach who has a good coaching relationship with our boy and really understands how best to direct him. And we may very well remain on this team and just seek private lessons with the new coach. The current shopowner was very understanding and agreed that he deserved a coach who focuses on his type of bow. And he thanked us for our honesty and said we are welcome to remain on this team while seeking outside coaching elsewhere. Whew! It was a relief! And it worked out the best way possible. I hope your situation does, too.
  3. I think you are my hero! Man! That's a bunch of people!
  4. Glad to hear good news about your dad, Bethany. Sorry about your momma.
  5. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better about it! At 6, my oldest was doing 2 hours max a day. And he is my advanced kid. My youngest at 6 did about 1.5 hours. Those didn't include reading aloud time. Even now, I have a 7th grader and a 4th grader. We spend 3.5 hours in the morning, mostly for my 10yo. The oldest works independently and has another 1-2 hours of work in the afternoon. My younger has maybe 30 minutes. PS isn't a good example to base your day on. Your student to teacher ratio is much smaller and you can get much more done in a shorter amount of time. :) Enjoy this age! It's so much fun. I am getting my first teenager this year. I miss my littler. :)
  6. Wish I lived closer to you, Jean. I rock at housework. Yard work? Not so much. But, I could definitely rock out the house. Do what you can when you can. :grouphug:
  7. Sounds neat! I like that it talks the instructions so people not trained can administer it. We see our allergist in about 3 months. I'll have to ask about it. We are okay with the epi-pens and ds10 likes his carrier, but I really like the idea of the instructions.
  8. I really liked the book. But, the book left me feeling sad, although I can't remember why exactly. And I remember being anxious throughout it. I might see the movie when it comes out on DVD. Have a fun night! And let us know what you think!
  9. 11 years ago. I was pregnant with my youngest and my good friend gave me a massage certificate for Christmas. I don't like other people touching me (aside from family). And I was very pregnant, so I used the table with the belly cut out. I got really dizzy being on my stomach. It was such a weird sensation. It was an okay experience. I feel bad because I didn't tip her. I didn't know I was supposed to! I would love to have pedicures. It's not in the cards right now. My only splurge is getting my hair done. I pay more than average because I love my stylist. Plus, she throws my boys' haircuts in for next to nothing. So, it works out okay.
  10. I think you did fine for the ages of your kids, OP. What did you want to do that didn't get done? At that age, if you hit the math, reading, and writing, everything else is gravy.
  11. I had a guy compliment my feet one time. It was really weird.
  12. Aw. That's too bad. It's such a tough thing. I'm so sorry for you and your little one.
  13. I'm so sorry! When our bunny died I printed out a picture to put my my younger ds's bedside. It really helped. Any chance this would help your little one?
  14. :grouphug: :grouphug: to you, Jean. You're in such a tough spot. I'm so sorry. I'm glad your son has been so helpful! It's awesome seeing glimpses of the man he will be. :) A ray of sunshine in an otherwise stormy time for you.
  15. My dh used to be in new construction (superintendent). He said the biggest complaints were the initial extra costs of buying a brand new home. Usually landscaping in the back isn't included, so no deck, grass/rock, trees, etc. Inside, no window coverings. When you buy a resale, the curtains/blinds usually come with it. Even if you hate them, you don't have put sheets up over the windows right away. Basements aren't finished either (if applicable). Otherwise, new construction is nice because you're the first to live there. No weird stains, etc. If you're looking at a specific builder, feel free to PM me. I'll ask dh about the company's reputation for you.
  16. Yikes! That's so scary! Personally, 3 was the age that did me in. I didn't know if I would survive....both times! :) Every age has its, um, challenges. :grouphug:
  17. You're not only a good mom, you're a brave one! :)
  18. We use trashcans in our house. Although making it to a toilet is preferable. I try to line the cans with plastic bags for easier clean up.
  19. I use Rachel Ray's 30 minute chicken and dumplings recipe. It's awesome! It calls for Jiffy mix, I think. I use 2 c. Bisquik and 2/3 c. milk. Comes out great.
  20. I'm caught up. I do 2 loads 3 days a week. Linens are separate-once a week on Tuesdays. I do laundry in the morning while school is going on and sometimes finish up after work.
