I'm in Chatham county so the closest high school would be 50 plus minutes away - I just looked it up on google maps. Ugh! That is a long way to drive and then do what.....? Drive back home? It would be hard to kill 6 plus hours a day for a week in Pittsboro - there isn't anything there. I guess I'll call the Pittsboro high school and find out more info.

That's the way taxes work now. Someone that earns 100k is going to pay more taxes than someone that makes 25k. They both receive the same services for their taxes.

Let's be clear here private health insurance companies DO NOT have your best interests at heart. They are in business to make a profit, to make money for their share holders, and to reduce the bottom line as much as they can. They deny benefits, refuse to pay for services, and will not insure adults with pre-existing conditions. Health care costs are out of control. Millions of Americans have no insurance. People that fall below the poverty line already receive medicaid or some kind of state run health insurance. Meanwhile the working and middle class don't qualify for help with medical insurance costs and many can't afford to purchase it for themselves. As a society we should be looking out for everyone. We should pool our resources and provide health care for all the citizens.

I have a problem with people being forced into paying for insurance through private for-profit insurance companies. I would much rather see universal health care that everyone pays into through taxes so that everyone is covered. Obviously the more you earn the more you would pay into the system. We already pay $700 a month for insurance premiums, which is just our portion. We still have to pay for ALL doctors visits, labs, etc... in full until we meet a 4k deductible and THEN the insurance will kick in. I'd be happier paying that money in extra taxes towards universal health care. For those that say that they think they wouldn't get as good medical care if the government were in charge, I have to tell you that there have been many times our health insurance has denied services, refused to pay, and given us such a hard time about things that they should be covering while charging us for the privilege.

I don't think I have ever ordered a kids meal for one of my older kids. I mean the kid menu usually states an age range, usually 12 and under. My 14 year old is not a big eater so instead we will order a side salad each and split an entree. Perhaps a better solution would be to ask if you could get a half portion of an adult meal at a reduce cost or split a meal with your child.

Nothing! However, when he wants something that seems reasonable I'll just go ahead and buy is for my 14 year old son. He wanted a game for his computer and a bamboo tablet for his computer and I bought them for him. If he does his share for the family - like babysitting - I'll make sure he gets the things he wants. Works for us.

Check out your local meetup groups. Just do a search for what interests you. There are groups for just about everything. I belong to a handful and decide which meetups I want to go to. Sometimes I just chat to them on the bulletin board online.

We used to lend them out at the park since we have extra guns. We pretty soon learned that other kids don't care if they lose the bullets. So no more lending them out. My kids are pretty careful with the bullets because they know how expensive they are. If they need more bullets they have to buy them with their own money.

Can you make extra principle payments? After a while they just snowball, paying more and more towards the principle. This is what we did, paying off a 15 year mortgage in 10 years.

Yep, that's what happens. They don't work well here at our house since we get lots of power surges. The CFL bulbs are expensive and we went through 30 or 40 of them. They never lasted very long at all. We will NOT be buying any more. What a rip off. I'll be sure to stock up on regular light bulbs. FYI - Home Depot will recycle the CFL bulbs for you.

I just went and looked at their website. It is kind of pricey - 350 pounds = $500 for 12 months of access. Plus, I was not impressed since I was trying to watch their demo and couldn't pause it, so that it could queue up. So I watched about 2 minutes of stopping and starting video which was really annoying. It makes me wonder how companies are going to sell anything is their website doesn't work properly. My son started Saxon's Advanced Mathematics half way through 9th grade. He is going to work through the summer and then finish up the second half of the book in 10th grade. We have not used the DIVE CDs at all.

I've had that happen. Two guys stopped by to ask if we were selling our pick up. It wasn't parked up near the road and it doesn't have a for sale sign. Sometimes I think this is an excuse and they are scoping the place out to see if anyone is home. I also had the neighbor stop by to ask if we wanted to sell our boat. I was okay with him stopping by since he is a neighbor. I told him the boat didn't run. He said he'd still be willing to buy it and fix it up. It was his lucky day because we gave it to him for free. We were just glad not to have it sitting there any more. :D

I would just replace the broken one. I would not replace something that was old but still worked perfectly fine.

Send him a letter stating you are not responsible for the those things and that it is his responsibility as general wear and tear and that you left the rental in a clean, acceptable condition. Let him take you to small claims court if necessary. He would have to prove his case - pictures of a house that was damaged or needed painting and carpet cleaning that went beyond normal wear and tear. If he has no pictures it will be his word against yours. The burden of proof is on him. Do not get bullied into paying for things that you are not responsible for.
