  1. We may have just lost the sell on our house cause of the mortgage company :'(

  2. I'm sorry for your loss. :grouphug: I can kinda see your uncle's side of things too. I'd be upset too if I couldn't say goodbye in time, but I'm sure he'll calm down over time. He needs time to grieve just like everyone else, I'm sure.
  3. I understand from that standpoint, but I prefer carpet especially in the bedroom. It just seems cozier.
  4. I recall one that confused me was mentioning the bathroom by how many "pieces" it had. 5-piece bathroom? It was only on the more recent episodes that I heard that one, though. I don't mind the asking for an en suite, I want one too so I don't have to share with guests anymore. But the rest are ridiculous. Like the requests for master bedrooms that are twice the size of a regular room. Or a regular room being "too small" for a nursery! Or the hatred of carpet. They always want hardwood floors. I get it, hardwood is nice, but so is carpet. Just not in the bathroom, ew.
  5. That sucks! Hopefully you get your bag back. I had that happen once when I was little (younger than 10) and my Barney was in the suitcase that got put onto another flight! I don't even remember where he was going, but it wasn't home. I couldn't sleep at all that night.
  6. Going out to eat means sitting down at a restaurant. Anything fast food (MCD's, Subway, etc) that I can take home isn't going out to eat. I never, well almost never, eat within the place itself.
  7. This tug a war with our house is ridiculous. Stop asking the buyer for more than the house was listed for >:(

  8. These start at about 6th grade, but I'm sure you can make them work http://www.glencoe.com/sites/alabama/teacher/languageart/assets/workbooks.html If anything, it'd be good for supplementing with other pieces. They're mostly worksheets. There's an English (which has mostly spelling) and a History (though vague) on here http://www.ck12.org/student/ you can download each lesson or textbook yourself in a PDF. You could also try this glencoe World History textbook https://sites.google.com/site/worldhistorytext/
  9. The only one I really know that you don't have listed is The King and I. I saw it when I was younger with my grandma and it's one of my few memories I have with her before she died. There's nothing too over the top in it, that I can of, that a child can't see.
  10. Our libary has a fee of 25 cents each day for books, $1 for DVDs, and allows us to check out 35 books at once but we never reach that. There's quite a few on my reading list checked out that I want, I feel your pain.
  11. I'm from the US and I say both. Saying 'Two Hundred Fifty-Three' takes longer to process in my mind when I hear it as opposed to 'Two Hundred and Fifty-Three'. I've never once heard 'and' to mean decimal. It's always "point" unless you're talking about money, then it's and XX cents.
  12. If I had a kid watching Disney Channel, Zapped is definitely one movie I'd pass on, I think.

  13. Stretchkins look extremely creepy...

  14. I only use 1 towel when we go swimming in our pool in the backyard, my parents use 1 towel each. There's only the 3 of us, so there's no need for tons of towels yet we have tons. Bath towels. I have a washcloth, hand towel, bath towel, and a hair towel. That's it. Parents have the same (dad doesn't have a hair towel). My bathroom also has a guest set (minus hair towel) and I have two other sets (different colors) that I switch out every sunday with what is dirty. We wash our towels, sheets, and whites on Sundays. Clothes are every other day as necessary.
  15. When I was younger, my bedtime was always 8/9 PM no matter what and then up around 6/7AM. We usually had and still do have dinner at 5/6PM every night, and my dad would leave for work (when he was working) at 4:30/5AM and my mom wouldn't leave until after she took me to school. When I was in my teens, I started going to bed around 9/10, and up at 6/7AM. Nowadays I don't make it to bed until anywhere from 12 -3 AM, but I don't get up until almost noon.
  16. The concept of an early release schedule and a hour early early release schedule is lost on me.

  17. I don't have kids, but I thought I'd offer it up anyways. I was 17 when I graduated then turned 18 in Sept, but it never bothered me to be younger than most of my classmates (they were 18 or 19).
  18. I've always used Great Lash from Maybelline. My mom used it, and then she passed it on to me to use. It's not too harsh, in my opinion.
  19. We have 2 cats and 1 box. At one point we had 3 cats 1 box. I've never seen a need for more than one, and it hasn't been a problem for us.
  20. The Great Gatsby and Ender's Game are my top two. It could have been mostly from trying to read them using an audio tape in school (I prefer reading myself not read alouds) but I know Sci-Fi type books aren't my type, so Ender's Game is a lost cause.
  21. This actually was just talked about on the news in a slightly different way. I forget the name, but they were talking about a device that hooks up to your carseat, the rest of the device goes under the passenger seat. It then has a loud continous beeping noise that it makes to tell you that the baby is in the seat. Then if you leave the car and the baby is still in it, it'll make your car horn go off continously. Sounds like a sound idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a vast amount of flaws to it as well.
  22. Never grab a hot burner with your bare hand. Ouch!

    1. Critterfixer

      Critterfixer

Yep. That's a bad plan every time. Ouchie.

    2. candicane

      candicane

Yep! Tried to keep it from falling, didn't realize it was the one that had been on the entire time and ouch!

  23. When you're a parent you have a lot on your mind, and I guess some things just slip by. Some parents out here (Arizona) have had their children die in a car while they pop into the store to shop, or to go to work. There was one case I recall where this woman left her kids in a hot car for a job interview, and some petition went around to get her her children back. It's unfortunate, but it does happen. It's a very hot topic here, as well as drowning in pools/tubs.
  24. Maybe cute little big brother/little sister type of shirts?
  25. Yep, and it's turned out to be nice for moving. We can just put it right back into the box it came from.
