Depends on if he hates read alouds too. My 9 year old hates to read too and he does okay with Sonlight. I tried making him read the history portion on his own and that caused a lot of problems. Once I switched to reading it to him he loved it. He isn't still isn't thrilled about having to read on his own but he's just like that.
We don't even school when I PMS. I get upset way too easily. Haven't found anything that works other than ice cream. It really does put me in a better mood for a couple of hours. I usually spend about a day in bed from cramps and achiness.
We are just driving in for the day on Tuesday. We will be staying at a campground in Covington for a few days and I thought it would make a good day trip.
I figure if we go early in the day in the middle of the week we can avoid all the freaks. :001_smile:
I forgot about city park! I used to love the paddle boats as a kid.
Where are the antique shops?
So what is there to do there for free or super cheap? I'm going with a friend and the kids next week for a day. I grew up in Houma so I've been tons of times as a kid but the last time I went was about 9 years ago. My friend has never been so I want to make it good for her. All I could come up with is the river walk and French quarter. What about parking if we do the French quarter?
I'm Dawn and I live in the middle of nowhere Alabama. My kids are 9 and 10. Dh is in the Army and we are moving back to NC in September. I've been homeschooling off and on since dd was in kindergarten. Twice I got the crazy idea that the kids would be better off in ps. We homeschool for academic reasons and I feel like we're just now finding our groove.
It is 11:30. I called both my parents. Texted a few friends. Read the boards and fb. Watched tv. Tried to convince kids to go out for lunch.
What I should have done: tags renewed for car, oil change, clean kitchen. Oh well, there's always tomorrow!
Op - I pm'd you. I will be happy to be your friend. And anybody else that wants one.
I know what you mean about wanting that one friend. For me, we move so much that I am tired of starting over with friendships yearly. Sure I keep in touch with old ones sometimes but after years people tend to drift apart. I miss having that one person that "gets" it.
I am sick of the kid's obsession with minecraft.
The screen on my phone shattered and I can't upgrade for another month.
I want another pug but dh would flip if I brought another dog home. I'm still tempted.
I was successful with the online only program. I lost 80 lbs in 2 years. Their message boards helped a lot. It was hard because there was nobody to answer to and it was easy to forget to track.
We have a bichon/shIh tzu mix and he is mean as all get out to strangers. Not sure if that has something to do with his history though since he was a rescue. But with the family he is the perfect lap dog. Calm, doesn't shed and very little barking.
We have a pug too and I love him but he is hyper. He's still a puppy so I'm not sure if he will calm down with age but he takes a lot of attention and time. He was super easy to train though.
