  1. Merry Christmas everyone! I've missed reading your posts. I hope everyone has had a great school year so far and all are happy and safe.
  2. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will be praying for God's comfort.
  3. Maybe I am confused but if he is getting 85-90s in his math, what is the issue he is having?
  4. I'm in NY and when I submit my reports I ask for a confirmation letter stating they received them. Both school districts I have been in have no problem with this. The district I'm in now is more by what they feel is the book, but we have been able to get along. Make sure you confirm what they desire for your annual assessment. The district I am in decided that they wanted the kids to come in with whatever test they were going to take and have it administered by a certified teacher. I talked to the superintendent and she waived that since I had tested my kids for the past twelve years and I followed through with all my reports on time. Also make sure you know what test they will allow. This district doesn't allow the PASS test.
  5. We have used Abeka and TT. We switched from Abeka to TT for 10-12 because of how much TT does explain everything in detail. The one thing we had a hard time with is proofs. I never did find something that explained to my son what order a proof goes in. Sorry I'm not much help.
  6. My daughter is super sensitive. She gets that from me. If she is upset already about something and you say anything to her or ask if she is all right, she will start crying. I'm pretty much the same way. It's actually worrisome because just like me she bottles up things inside and won't talk about things. You'd think I'd be used to it, since I'm the same way, but after raising my ds who told me everything, this is hard to handle at times. So in answer to your question.... No, you aren't a bad mom and she probably is just having an emotional day which all us "girls" have no matter the age.
  7. Thanks for the reminder about the trampoline park. I was trying to think of something to do with my dd for her 11th birthday. She really wants to go to the trampoline park here.
  8. I feel for you, Junie. I know this post is days old, but I can relate. My ds was the same way. He needed a lot of one on one and review. I just had to learn that, that was how he learns. He just wasn't a book learmer. Now my dd, on the other hand, is a book learner and can do most of her work just by reading how to do it. Good luck with your ds.
  9. Yeah he was diagnosed with a yeast infection that he was transferring to his ear and as a result he got an ear infection. They gave him the cortisone shot for both the ear and feet, ear drops for the ear Infection, and an antibiotic for the ears. The ear cleared up with out a problem, but the feet came right back to being irritated. I will definitely try one of those shampoos.
  10. Critter... Or anyone who can help me.... My dog keeps chewing on and licking his paws. I've taken him to the vet and they gave him a cortisone shot, but he is still doing it. They said the shot would last six weeks. He didn't chew on his paws for only two weeks. Any ideas? They believe it is an allergy he is picking up outside. I've given him Benadryl as they suggested, but that didn't help. Suggestions?
  11. These are very helpful. Any other suggestions, I would love to hear.
  12. My dd has long hair. While she has no problem brushing and braiding, she would enjoy doing different styles. I am looking for something geared towards a girl doing her own hair. TIA
  13. Thanks for the information. I've never heard of them before.
