I vote Soapstone. I'm not sure where it can be purchased (ours is from the Vermont Soapstone Company). We've had ours for 16 years and it's wearing really well. Easy to maintain and very durable. I LOVE that hot pots can be placed on it directly without worry!
Oh dear...now my 17 and 15 year old daughters are laughing at me as I am pretending that I wasn't REALLY crying. FABULOUS commercial and thanks for taking the time to share.
GOSH! It's a rainy day and I just woke up from a nap. I read the title of this new group a bit differently and was thinking "Oh..umm...how Progressive." LOL! Thanks for the chuckle!
It does go by so quickly. This is my 19th year homeschooling. OMGOSH! AND...to be honest...I STILL don't feel like an "expert" and I STILL have curricula panics every year (this year's would be on the High School forum). LOL. Enjoy your time because it's not just school, it's your family memories. I'm very thankful that we've been able to share so much time together.
I joined for a similar reason. I don't really want any other contact. I joined under a "Facebook name." It serves the purpose and allows me to keep my privacy and time.
Gosh...sitting at my table chuckling loudly and hoping my daughters do NOT come to peek at my computer screen. Count me in with the folks who thought a couple was looking for 420 new friends for a umm...friendly gathering. YOWSA.
This happened to me too in July (including skipping the month prior)!! I couldn't leave the house. Could. Not. I used Ultra tampons and doubled up on overnight pads. AND it lasted 31 days. I also wonder why I never heard of this happening. On the bright side...I've had typical periods in the two cycles since that unfortunate month. I'm so afraid that it will happen again...How long does this last? I'll be 53 in January.
Erica, thanks so much. I'm going to contact Jesse W. and see if she has any suggestions. I'll report back if I find out anything in case anyone else wants to share this kind of information with their child. "itsheresomewhere" how did you find the episodes of Dateline and 20/20? I just started searching for them and I've found a lot of information that isn't quite relevant (and also been more than mildly shocked at some of things that I've found!). Would you share the episodes that you found? I really appreciate the help!!!
Does anyone have a recommendation for an age appropriate (high school) documentary about Internet Safety (social media, predators, etc.)?
I've found a few programs for younger students but they're very juvenile.
What a lovely tribute. Your husband was truly an amazing man. Thank you for sharing with us. Praying that you are surrounded by family and friends. Hugs and more hugs and continued prayers sent.
I FEEL your pain! Only ONE of my girls has "technology issues" but wow...it's frustrating! I don't want to be the "Computer patrol cop" but honestly..her screen time has to be carefully monitored. She would easily stay on the computer for HOURS and HOURS if left to her own devices and...she gets GROUCHY when she has too much screen time. I do have Qustodio installed on the computer and smart phone of two of my children (14 and 15 year olds). My 16 year old doesn't need it and my 12 year old is too busy doing other things to use her electronics very much. My oldest daughter is 22 and it was MUCH easier parenting before smartphones became popular. Sigh...
