  1. Hugs and more hugs. My mom has early stage dementia AND she was always a very difficult woman. Sigh...I'm trying to focus on how blessed I am with my children and praying for a little bit of extra grace to extend towards her. It's so hard...Even choosing a food to eat for dinner is stressful. Hugs to you....Don't let it destroy or taint YOUR day. You can do this...
  2. Please help. We are trying to fill out the "Registration" form for the NCAA. We follow (broadly) a WTM approach to classes. How do we fill out the "Name of Your Homeschool Program?" AND how to answer "Will you receive a document or certificate upon leaving this school?" We are in NYS and homeschoolers are not eligible for a NYS diploma Tearing my hair out and we are just starting (thanks in advance for any help).
  3. You and your family have been on my heart and in my prayers. :grouphug:
  4. Congrats!! Your son is lovely! Enjoy the new baby smell and cuddles. So sweet. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I'm so sorry Stacey. :grouphug: . It sounds like you and your family were truly a blessing to your mare. Sending prayers for comfort to all of you who mourn her passing. Heartbreaking...
  6. Thinking of all of you today. Hugs.
  7. :grouphug: Praying for all of your requests and that you will feel an overwhelming sense of peace. I'm really sorry.
  8. Chicken Tikka Masala eaters, would you please share your recipe? Please, please? I would be so grateful (and my children will LOVE you!). Thanks in advance. :)Michele
  9. I've been doing it every night for three weeks and honestly...it makes me feel happy to start the day with a clean kitchen (who knew?!) so it's a good investment of my time. We have some "kinks" to work out like...what about the before bed snackers who just cannot seem to remove traces of their snack from the room but...it's a process I think. I'd consider trying it. It really takes a little bit of pre-planning for me (run the dishwasher early enough to have time to empty it) but the payoff is great. I dry the dishes in the drain and put them away. Leave out a clean towel for morning and go to bed knowing that the next day will truly be a fresh start.
  10. :grouphug: I'm so sorry. :grouphug:
  11. The photos are lovely. So much love and joy. Thank you for sharing.
  12. :grouphug: and lol. This parenting thing is not for the faint of heart! Personally, I found it much easier in the days when I had three under three. Little children tend to have little problems which are easily solved. Big children have (often) much more complex problems that cannot be solved by the mom person. Hugs and hoping that you get a good night's sleep tonight.
  13. We totally agree! John is such a kind man who really cares about about homeschooling families. I've found him to be respectful, inquisitive and always willing to go the extra mile over the years. Truthfully, it's nothing that I imagined from a curriculum provider but I am very grateful.
  14. This hasn't been a problem for us. I just asked my 9th grader who finished last week and she replied "I once had an issue because I didn't remember the proof that seemed suggested but I just used a different proof and arrived at the same answer. Isn't the important thing about math learning how to think?" Also, she reminded me that John Zimmerman is always an email away. AND he responds promptly. My kids are always really excited when his name shows up on our caller ID. It's like a celebrity sighting! I've homeschooled for 19 years and finding a math program that worked for my girls has been challenging. We use TabletClass from Pre-Algebra through Algebra II. Two of my daughters completed Algebra II and were really upset that John had not developed a program for Pre-Calc but they're settled into another program. Their new instructor has mentioned that both girls were very well prepared for advanced math with a solid background. I'm ready to exhale now!
  15. Not live, but my high school kids have enjoyed TabletClass Geometry. In fact, I have a 9th grader who just finished it last week! I've had three students take this class and it has prepared them well for higher level math.
  16. Hooray Rosemary !! Welcome to the world precious!!! Congrats Kate, dh and family. Hey Kate, you even beat the goat!!!
  17. When one of my daughters was at UK this summer (which she LOVED) for gymnastics, they were very pro homeschooling. That has NOT generally been our experience. In fact, she was invited to a Homeschool Day but was unavailable to attend because we live in Upstate, NY.
  18. Pandora (the free app) might be really helpful. You can add a song or a musical group and get their "station." Related music is on the station. It's easy to use and..free (if you don't mind the infrequent commercials).
