  1. Dh thinks costco has an automatic warranty for 3 years on electronics. Definately call or go to store and ask first. Hope costco can fix it!
  2. The dresses are all lovely. Your dd did a great job! Sorry for your loss.:grouphug:
  3. Get kindles or other readers. That will cut down on what you have to carry. I would look at ambleside and other downloadable curriculums. You will be fine. What an adventure! When we first came to the UK we were in a really small flat. Maybe 800 square feet. It worked but we really needed to keep the stuff down.
  4. They used to mail them over a couple of weeks. I can't remember if it was regional or alphabetical.
  5. Shannon, it definately sounds like you wish to stay for now. I would start telling people when they ask about your week exactly how busy you are. Make sure they know how much time you personally spend on your children's education. That you spend time with your mother and uncle. Tell them you would love to be able to do more but you need to be able to do these things physically. Be friendly and bring it up with the members you are close to first. Let them know your plate is full. I suspect your elderly friends will spread the word far more effectively then you. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
  6. We always pop them, proper sterilization and bandage with ointment after. I am pretty sure this is what the army recommends--they walk a lot.:001_smile: IMO leaving them creates many more problems. We are generally ready to go the next day. Frequently if you leave them you need a day or two off from activities.
  7. I'm so glad! When I saw the thread starter I didn't know if i could stand to read it--but I have followed it so I clicked, needed to know. As I already said so relieved!.
  8. I love this salid! Can't figure out how to make it in UK no cool whip. I don't think it will hold up with whipped cream. Really good with raspberries too! We do sausages instead of hot dogs. I think the taco bar sounds like fun!
  9. I would add in Beverly Hillbillies/Green Acres. Huge favorites. Also Lost in Space. My kids watch mainly oldies and love them. Dd14 can't figure out her "friends" love for todays stars.... Cary Grant is obviously superior! Her good friends get Cary Grant!
  10. No advice but awful experience. I hope you heal quickly with no infection!:grouphug:
  11. Change your locks and watch your bank accounts/credit cards. Also take look at any interesting collections you and dc's might have -- playmobile charactors, coins, fossils etc. These people knew no boundaries in your home and obviously were everywhere for hours. I am paranoid, I know, but this was weird. I can't imagine behaving like that at home in anyone elses home. Not even our best friends home where yes we do know where most things are -- I would have brought paper towels from my home rather then search! I probably would never say a thing to them. I would try to never say much to them again-- too bad they live near by. Because they seem to be nuts and appear to be clueless about appropriate actions. I wouldn't want to be on their bad side. Just say friends are taking care of dog at their house if ever asked why not hiring again. You have no responsibility to parent their daughter -- the fact she is not hired again is plenty. :grouphug:
  12. :iagree: Since day 14 appears to be it she might want to try the test kits one month. I charted for years and it never worked well. Test kits worked 4 times in first month I tried. Before someone starts counting 2 kids but several miscarriages. But the kits really helped us.
  13. We really enjoyed the Sister Wendy book. I had it from the library for a really long time. When I had to return it dh found a used one cheap for us. Both dc 's liked it and we all learned alot. Now just to confuse you :lol:I will add we recently have added an ancient copy of Gardner's Art Through History and a study guide to our collection. Dd14 loves them but art is her thing. These books are used for AP prep. I felt I should tell you about them just in case you might be interested. Not sure that we will be doing it with the AP as the goal--we live in the UK so location is going to be a huge issue for us. It will probably take her 2 years because her schedule is pretty full but the guide is wonderful. You could use God and the history of Art for one credit. If she enjoys it follow up with Gardner 's or similar.
  14. Ck 12 has a trig course. You could print it as you go. The khan academy really is good. The videos are really well done. Another easy option for you would be a dummies book. We bought a huge stack cheap at a going out of business sale and they get lots of use. We don't have trig but my dd uses the calculus one frequently for quick explanations of unfamiliar terms etc. Plus your library might have it so you could try it for free.
  15. I didn't want you to go without an answer. At that age we mainly used a good story bible--like Golden Children's Bible. We read and discussed. I would also do a thread search. There are many good curriculums out there. Many that I tried at that age were very writing intensive. My ds simply could not do the work. I hope you find a great curriculum!
  16. I have never used it but just looked it up. Wow, 250 art lessons in one place. It sounds great. Definately an art credit for practical. Will she be able to do them all in a year? It sounds like a lot for one year if they are all lessons where she will produce art work or is that including the history/ artist potion as well? I would be tempted to get a used copy of Sister Wendy's art history just to add a bit it. Then call it art history too. I hope this helps some.
  17. When I used the program it came with it. We did use it. Frequently the cd part just sits for us. The songs were really helpful. It made the memorization part quick.
  18. It's absolutely beautiful. I love the pattern!
