  1. I really like mine for work. I can glance at it when I'm getting a text or call without major interruptions. I can also quickly respond back without it looking like I'm on my phone instead of doing work. It's not a must have for me, but it is very handy.
  2. I would not worry too much. She has a lot of underlying problems to begin with and is likely way more susceptible than others for something to turn into pneumonia. You can't catch it from others, but you can catch whatever caused it. Viruses can still be shed for weeks, but the ability to spread it decreases with time. All that said, I would be annoyed as a parent to have my kid around the coughing.
  3. We have a silky terrier (perhaps Yorkie) mix. The vet thinks it's a mix with a Dachshund. He looks exactly like Benji, though with the typical silky colors. He is an amazing dog. Yes, barks but only when necessary. Can't believe how he can sense someone approaching the driveway long before he can see him. He stops as soon as he realizes it's someone we are okay with entering the house. Lots of energy, but also naps a lot during the day. He is the most loyal dog I've ever encountered. Follows me everywhere and loves to cuddle. Very loving and sweet. Has not started digging yet, but probably would if we left him alone inside our fence. Overall, a really good match for our family. Reminds me of our old miniature schnauzer who was also a really good dog.
  4. I would not let it go. That's a lot of money and would keep me up at night thinking someone may have taken advantage of me. We were in a similar situation and I hounded DH to continue to remind, even if it was little amounts at a time. Eventually got paid and everything's fine between all of us!
  5. I would go to a pediatric ortho surgeon. Some cases do require surgery.
  6. I would go to an orthopedic surgeon in order to get an order for an MRI to actually see whats wrong and make sure there's nothing urgent. They can also write a script for PT. This happens to DH as well 1-2 times per year. He was able to overcome it with ibuprofen, physical therapy (who also does massage) and muscle relaxants. He did get a steroid injection as well. The ortho can guide the treatment, and it doesn't always mean surgery. This also establishes care so that treatment can be faster when it flares up again. I would ask around and see who your friends recommend. I am not against chiropractors at all, but I would want some imaging before going that route long term. My grandpa was treated by one for years for headaches when it actually ended up being a benign brain tumor.
  7. 12, however, I did order additional bowls. We seem to go through those the most. When we have company we usually use paper plates or pull out the good china, which is actually everyday use china.
  8. As a contact lens wearer for 25 years, I would not allow it. It would take so much prep and teaching for just a very temporary reason. Thinking of my own teen's hygiene habits, no way would I trust her to keep everything sterile while trying to take them in and out.
  9. I am by no means an expert, but here are some thoughts.... Sit down with them and let them know what amount you have budgeted for this event. Then, discuss what they have in mind for a venue. In my family we have rented party rooms at nice restaurants. Offer to make the phone calls, book the event, help with the menu etc. As far as socializing, I would plan to mingle with all the guests, maybe situating yourself towards the front to greet act as hostess, while still making them the focus. When my nephew got married all of his aunts, uncles and cousins attended as well. That was really nice to be included because we are a very close family, even though we all weren't in the wedding. In my own experience I planned it all and the inlaws helped with the bill. But they were also out of town and would have no idea where to start to help plan. Their role was more of guest as they did not know my family at all. Everything went fine.
  10. This sounds like an emergent situation. I would be reporting it ASAP. If it's a foster situation, I'd head straight to the ER. The high pitched cry is a huge red flag.
  11. Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal is the best that I've tried so far. Also got a new box and that helped immensely. The other was so scratched up, it must have been contributing to the odor issue.
  12. I would not do 15%, especially if they didn't set up. I think $50 is totally reasonable, maybe a bit more if there is more than one delivery person.
  13. Yes, those would be the exceptions! Luckily it's really rare to need a pelvic exam as a teen. I believe their are some rights that teens have for reproductive health that is legal to offer without parental permission, and that would be my concern. I'm super conservative with my kids and medications (my main concern is adverse effects) so I would be so upset if they were taking something that I didn't agree with.
  14. As long as I can until they kick me out of the room, haha. Until they are 18, they are still my responsibility and I want to be involved in their healthcare decisions. I understand the rationale, as I'm an NP, but still not comfortable with the possibility of them offering them medications or whatever else without me being involved in that conversation.
  15. Good Luck Charlie is one of our favorites to watch as a family. Very funny and totally appropriate for all ages. But they pulled it from Netflix recently. :glare:
  16. I would make an appt with an OB/GYN and have a pelvic ultrasound to rule out cysts, fibroids, etc. Dd just had one and it was non-invasive if you catch my drift. We did start a very low dose contraceptive because her doctor thinks the symptoms match endometriosis. Ultrasound was normal. Not crazy to go that route but am hoping this helps with extreme moodiness and abdominal pain that we can't figure out. Good luck!
  17. This Is Us  I finished Stranger Things a long time ago, but oddly enjoyed it. Normally not my type of show, but it sucked me in. New season set to come out around Halloween. Fun to have a mutually liked show with Dd, as we usually do not like the same genre.
  18. If they were exposed, yes I would have said something in the children's defense. What was she thinking?? Plenty of times I've been in that situation and I've made it discrete.
  19. I think a cardiology visit wouldn't be a bad idea. If the radiation was to the chest, you really should have an echo, although I"m thinking you didn't since you mention brain tumor. Certain chemotherapy agents can cause heart problems as well. Another easy test is a halter monitor or Zio patch to check your heart rhythm and rate.
  20. I would go to a meeting or two to become familiar with the process, then if you feel like your concern is something that can be addressed you can sign up to be put on the agenda for a future meeting. I would not bring anything up with just single board member, as all decisions/discussions seem to be made at the meetings.
  21. Caffeine is the only thing I can think of that may help. What does your doctor recommend? Though I would be very leery to take a non-prescribed supplement that may affect the heart. There are prescription medications that will increase the blood pressure so I would presume it would have a similar effect on heart rate. Is there a particular reason that you need the rate to be increased?
  22. We have them in our neighborhood, they are very common here in newer subdivisions. I love that our mail is secure and locked! Small boxes fit in them with a special key that is locked in our own box. Everything else goes to our porch.
  23. With nearly every sport, I am amazed at the amount of progress my kids and their teams make by the end of the season. This was true for soccer especially. I am similar in that I make my kids finish the season. They have almost always been glad they did and are proud of themselves for sticking with it. Eventually they all dropped soccer and I let them make that choice, but not mid season as it's not fair to the coach or the team.
  24. I have an old Dyson still going strong. I like it, but don't love it. But it does get the job done. Had a Shark for a short time, it was small yet powerful, but broke fairly quickly. I love my Roomba, though I consider it my secondary one and mainly use it on my hardwoods.
  25. I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you have time to reflect on some of the happy memories, maybe even journal them to share with your children someday. You will be in my prayers for peace and comfort.
