  1. Oh no! Makes me glad I bought the warranty! Yikes! I was so limited in options with the small space I had to put it in.
  2. Will never buy LG again due to my lemon of a wash machine, but recently got a Samsung, side by side with freezer at the bottom and have been happy so far! The ice machine holds very little and the water tastes funky even with a filter but overall I really like it. Got a counter depth so its smaller on the inside, but I like that I can see everything. I especially like that the freezer handle swings out purposely when opening....I hate my parents bottom freezer that is so hard to pull open. I got a great deal on it and got a 5 year warranty with it, covers every thing except scratches/dents, so I'm guaranteed a working fridge for 5 years.
  3. Ds had a concussion this spring and it was a good 4-6 weeks before he was back to himself. In that time, we had a few ER visits with symptoms that scared me, and regular follow ups. I pushed for a CT but no one would order one, ugh! Even as a provider, I understand the rationale, but still irked me. He's fine now. But I'm still a bit leery of the new guidelines. In your case... 1) Are you going for regular follow ups with your PCP? If not, you should be. We went every 1-2 weeks for neuro checks. 2) There is a step wise progression plan that we followed to ease into activities. Your PCP can give you this, or you can probably find it online. Basically, you step back if you have symptoms. It's a pretty detailed plan. 3) I would still ask for a CT.
  4. Yes, lol, but they hang out in the basement quite a bit.
  5. I have one male and one female, both fixed. I've never noticed spraying. Would I if they did?? We've only had them a few years so no experience with this. Just got a new dog and did notice urine near where the cats hang out, not sure if this was the dog or the cats marking territory.
  6. In the basement. And I rarely use it because I forget it's even there and a bit of a walk to get to it. DH fills it with deer after hunting. I would use it much more if it were on the main floor. Honestly, I'd be fine without one at all, I'm terrible about thawing things out in time for dinner. We do have a small fridge in the garage, but I've designated it for drinks only. It gets way too hot in the garage for it to keep up in the summer and we've had spoiled food.
  7. Agree with the other posters, it doesn't like to go from the wood floor to a thick rug. I will go on a very thin rug with no problem. It will shut off it someone tries to pick it up. I did not know there was a handle to lift it and cracked mine trying to pick it up, Costco exchanged it with no questions asked. Nope, will not go down stairs, it will turn right around when it senses a staircase. The corners get cleaned fairly well, but does leave a little behind. Peas should get picked up, pasta maybe if it's dry. It will suck up a lego but you can easily find it when emptying. It will get stuck on a sock or loose cords around the house. But it has not destroyed anything, it just waits until you fix the issue. It's on the noisy side. You can stop it anytime. Mine runs in completely random places, my house shape is odd though, no perfectly square rooms. I let it run until the battery dies. I have never cleaned mine, but probably should. I love my Roomba! It is not as good as a traditional vacuum of course, BUT I run it while I'm doing other things, at times I wouldn't be sweeping, so I feel I'm ahead of the game so to speak. I have mainly wood floors, and it does a terrific job on dust bunnies and pet hair. It can also go under bookshelves, hard to reach places. Does get stuck under one couch set, but can get under the living room couch with no trouble. It saves me tons of time sweeping and I can guarantee my floors wouldn't be nearly as clean if I didn't have it.
  8. Since you are starting to refine your taste/wardrobe, can you hit some clearance racks to get your fix until December? Dress Barn has cute and trendy clothes and very good clearance prices. IME, their clothes last for years, very good quality. I can always find something at TJ Maxx as well. Maybe even a few cute accessories to go with your new clothes could take care of the urge!
  9. Why can't he order it as an outpatient? Maybe that's what he meant? Call the hospital and ask the radiology department the process for getting one as an outpatient.
  10. Miralax works wonders here. Can take a few days though. Dd has taken more than the normal dose, advised by an urgent care pediatric provider. It made me very nervous, but worked. She did have to miss school to allow for time near the bathroom (pretty much went all day). Could you consult her PCP to get their opinion on higher than normal dose given her other issues? Otherwise I'd start Miralax at the recommended dose ASAP!
  11. I am super stingy about giving them out as well. On paper, I would say "provided upon hire"; online, if it wouldn't let me proceed I would type in all 1's or 5's, then let the HR department know why. The only exception to this would be a federal job.
  12. Many years ago, my parents, siblings and nieces and nephews stayed at Blue Fin Bay resort in northern Minnesota. It was such a beautiful and relaxing trip, we all still talk about it. I would definitely go back there. There wasn't much for us to do ON the lake because it's huge and we had no boat. It looks like the ocean. But we really enjoyed walking along the beach and just spending time near it the lake. We did a lot of biking, there were also mountain slides (can't think of the exact name). The resort name is Bluefinbay dot com We also vacationed in Minneapolis/St Paul this summer and had a great time, though I think that's quite a ways south of the above resort. If you are interested, I can share all that we did. I haven't been there, but have heard Duluth is beautiful and only a few hours away from Minneapolis, so you could easily hit the two in the same trip! Have fun!!
  13. I would call around to see if (in the slim chance) you could camp closer to home and join them during the day. Or try to reschedule somewhere closer in the next few weekends. I would not stay home. DH and my boys camp a lot for scouts, and I always regret not joining them. Just a last minute thought, not sure if camp fire/smoke exposure to a newborn would be a good idea though.
  14. Good update! Glad her heart has been ruled out. Just another thought....has she had a chest X-ray to make sure there is nothing physically pressing on her chest making her short of breath when she's flat? It is very rare, but I did have a teen patient with the same symptoms (minus the tics) and a simple chest X-ray lead to her diagnosis. It would be an easy and noninvasive way to just be sure.
  15. I would find a hematologist to get to the bottom of it. Even if you have to take him to another town. Edited to add: I would try to get him a colonoscopy if he hasn't had one for awhile.
  16. I am wondering why you are still living there. I could not sleep knowing there were hundreds of bees living in my home. Like my previous post, I'd be living in a shelter if I had no where else to go. I would deal with the security deposit and previous rent payments after I moved out.
  17. I really like my Ninja 3-in-1 crock pot. It can serve as a crock, a stovetop and/or an oven. It runs on the warm side, so I watch food carefully. Just googled and it looks like Walmart has it for around $93. I paid much for for it a few years ago. The easiest crock pot meal I've made is a few large chicken breasts with a bottle of salsa or Pace Picante sauce over it. Cook on low all day and shred when done. We use this for tacos, burritos, nachos, etc. Can easily stretch into several meals.
  18. Ours does not, and I have not ever heard of an 8th grade trip. Just an occasional day field trip, if any at all. They did have an eclipse field trip to see it in totality, but obviously that was a rare event. If they did, I would try to let them go, even if it was pricey. Most of the traveling I've done was as a teen. Those opportunities slowed way down after getting married and having kids.
  19. If there were that many bees/wasps in my home, I would be living anywhere else but there. Even a shelter, if I had no where else to go. No way would I risk one more minute there if one of my kids was reactive. Yes, I would think you would have a right to get your rent money back. Maybe small claims court?
  20. This has happened to us a few times at least. One was a few thousand dollars worth of groceries and gas in several small towns in Michigan....several states away from me. My credit card (maybe a Visa?) was great about it. I did not have to pay anything back. I called the police to file a report in those towns or at least try to get them to get the video footage of the purchases (the store did have them), but the police could not have cared less. The said it happens so often, they can't keep up. Apparently I would have had to be willing to go to court in person to press charges. So frustrating...no wonder this happens so often. The other purchases were my Kohl's charge, shipped to an address in California. No hassles with Kohl's. But I do find it odd that it occurred literally hours after I placed an online order with them, giving my number over the phone to the rep.
  21. I also like that brand, and my last pair ripped as well from the thinning material. Oddly enough, I like the Natural Reflections brand from Bass Pro Shop. They have one style with cute bling on the back pockets and some without. They look higher end, but only run $39. I find them very true to size. They fit me well and I'm also curvy.
  22. I would have no problem with that list at all. If I did, I would get permission to send my own daily snack, without the allergens to be on the safe side. We had a child in our district that went into anaphylaxis from accepting a snack from a friend in the classroom. Student was on life support for several days. Our district is super strict about nuts now, as they should be. Also, as a former school nurse in that district, I would cringe to have my kids eat something that was prepared at a students home, so prepackaged is more than fine with me!
  23. Yep. Especially those that they rarely see.
  24. Yes, very much so. A family member does this on a regular basis and it irritates me. One incident sticks in my mind when Ds ran past a friend of mine, must have squeezed through and she says "well excuse YOU!!" in a very rude tone. He was only about 3 or 4. The only time I do it is if it's a safety issue or they are destroying something. I would hope in this case, other parents would say something to mine as well.
  25. Disneyworld & Cocoa Beach: went last year and my kids still ask on a weekly basis when we are going back. The ocean was definitely the highlight of the trip. Black Hills: so much to do, great family destination
