Any experience with a mass on the bran? I'm terrified
TrulySusan replied to ExcitedMama's topic in The Chat Board
My pre-mom career was neurosurgery (Physicians Assistant). Mass is very vague. It could be nothing or something awful. It would be hard to know if that is all you have to go by. Did the doctor doing the scan not refer your DH to someone for follow up? -
Handwritten or typed papers?
TrulySusan replied to Janeway's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
My oldest went back to ps in 9th and is currently finishing 10th. She has taken advanced English and history classes both years, and I have been shocked that all papers are required to be hand written. She thinks the teachers believe it cuts down on plagiarism. Maybe your student could alternate so he gets practice both ways. -
I officially hate State Farm--update first post
TrulySusan replied to SparklyUnicorn's topic in The Chat Board
We got dropped by them after 2 claims. Both involved damage to our cars but once someone hit our parked car and the other another person was driving for my injured dh and had a small fender bender. We switched to Progressive and will never go back to State Farm. -
I don't do shift work, but to behave at home I brush my teeth immediately after dinner. For some reason, that helps signal my brain that I am done until morning. If I really had to eat a treat, I would have it with a cup of hot tea (0 calories) and then brush my teeth.

We got pantry moths this fall. I threw away tons of stuff, and froze everything else for a week. I also used these: http://www.amazon.com/Pheromone-Attractant-Insecticide-Dr-Killigans/dp/B00U1SMPC2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460813235&sr=8-1&keywords=dr.+killigan%27s It took several weeks for them to be totally gone, but (fingers crossed) we seem to have beat it. Eta- I do think the traps made a huge difference. When it looked as if all the moths had gone, more would show up in the traps.

Send them. Most people would love to get something like that. When my grandmother died, my mom sent old photos to several relatives and family friends. They all seemed very appreciative. Mom even found and sent a little baby announcement to a lady in her 70s who WAS the announced baby! She was thrilled to get it and didn't even know her mom had done announcements.

Do all your kids have the same hair color? (silly post :) )
TrulySusan replied to Mom2Five's topic in The Chat Board
I have a ds and dd with very similar coloring-both began as blondes and now have medium brown hair. 1 curly/fine and 1 straight/thick. My other ds has always had a coppery brown color with waves. -
I think you should send them ready to sell. I would do bags of 2 or 3 cookies, depending on size.

Want to do neat Easter baskets for tweens. Help!
TrulySusan replied to Alicia64's topic in The Chat Board
My boys are 11 and 13. Besides candy and snacks, they will each get a fun t shirt and a survival bandana I found on Amazon. Then I will probably add a DVD or new game for their PS4 and other little stuff like novelty pens, new toothbrush, $5 Target gift card to buy discounted Easter candy, and maybe earbuds. In the past we have also done small Lego sets, art supplies, silly string, water bottles, and new swim trunks. One year they all got new Bibles, to upgrade from a children's to adult version. Eta Nerf darts, we always need more! -
E. O. Wilson Life on Earth questions
TrulySusan replied to Haiku's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I downloaded the books and even an assignment guide, but could never find any sort of answer key to the chapter questions and tests. If I could find that, I believe I could make it work. I realize I can find the answers myself, but - time. My ds and I are still leaning toward using it next year. You might try downloading the first book to get a general idea. They are all similar. -
Answers for the tests are in the regular solutions manual.
-
This is what we do too. If I don't want ds to have access to the chapter during the test, I photocopy the test page for him to complete.

It is an intro to literary analysis. It has some writing, in the form of essays and such analyzing literature. I haven't used it yet, but just bought it for next year.

Try searching the term "theistic evolution". -
If you go to someone's house with an infant...
TrulySusan replied to Janie Grace's topic in The Chat Board
Am I the only one who pumped a bottle to take along for nursing infants? I would never spring that kind of request on my hostess and might die on the spot if I had someone ask to go in my bedroom(super messy, catch-all area for anything I didn't have time to clean in the public areas, etc.) I know all babies won't take a bottle. A nursing mom in the room wouldn't bother me at all. -
Penzeys Spices has some nice gift boxes right now. I boughht one today for about $20 that has 8 spices and a small cookbook. There were nicer sets available. If I remember, you live near me. There is a store in Homewood. They are also online.

We use it for my son's Landry Academy class. I get that message every time, which always gives me stress, but so far (4 months) everything has been fine.

If he got out after his owners went to work, they may not know he is missing yet. Hopefully you will hear from them this evening! -

what is vanilla or chocolate almond bark used for?
TrulySusan replied to SparklyUnicorn's topic in The Chat Board
It can be a cheap alternative to chocolate for dipping things like strawberries, pretzels, etc. That is all I have ever used it for. -
Not the OP but you can't pay Landry directly. The discount is given because of buying 80 or more semesters at once. If you want to pay Landry directly, you would have to wait for the required semester amount to drop down to the size you want and the price would be much higher. I was also concerned by OP's low post count, but she has been a member here since 2009. It isn't like she signed up a few days ago just to run a scam. However, everyone has to do what they feel safe with. I have comitted to 10 generics. Eta: 10 classes would be $102 each if you wait to buy alone, 4 classes would be $125 each if you wait to buy alone. Hope this makes sense.

If I were the recipient, I would greatly prefer a gift card. (to Target). It could be used frivolusly for fun stuff or for groceries or clothes as well. It is really great for you to get them something!

I think the sign you saw lost a piece. I have seen it before but it is B1 ( be one).
