  1. Bolt, I also thought the euthanasia might be fabricated. Calling the store to verify is a good idea.
  2. We have 2 of the rolled up in a box type, both queens for our teenage kids. I was skeptical, but have slept on one and it is no different than any other mattress. I was worried about the impossibility of getting one back in the box if I wasn't satisfied! Sam's and Costco are pretty inexpensive too, but you need a way to get them home.
  3. Weird, but our last 2 mattresses have come from Amazon! They have held up great, so far. One is only a few months old, but the other is about 2 years. Read the reviews and pick one. They are super fun to unpack, too.
  4. The guest who threw away the cloth napkins after dinner.
  5. The Bluebird Effect is a lovely book. Sorry I don't know how to link.
  6. Am I the only one who worrried that Miss Patty had cancer? Google has reassured me it is gastric bypass surgery. Also, I wanted more Mrs. Kim time. She was always my favorite.
  7. Are you getting them lately? I used to receive at least 1 email a day from them, but nothing for about the last 2 weeks. I was hoping for some Black Friday specials, and now I'm just curious.
  8. Boat. In Alabama, we call a dusting of snow a blizzard.
  9. Not sure this will help, but from my ipad the emoticons are on the keyboard pop up, bottom left, next to the .?123 button.
  10. My inlaws are in Panama City so we visit in December or January every year. I think the gulf is too cold for swimming, but it has never stopped the kids from getting in. If you dip your toes in, it feels pretty cold. The air temp is usually in the high 60s and we wear light jackets for walks on the beach. We haven't ever done jet skis or parasailing. Most of the places that offer that stuff shut down for the winter so it isn't available on the beach like it is in summer. I have seen people kite boarding at the St.Andrews state park in winter.
  11. Fever virus must be real because our pediatrician diagnosed my kids dozens of times!🙄 It is absolutely THE most annoying thing ever for families that don't go in for every little thing. I think with the abdominal pain that you did the right thing. Just as an fyi, surgically significant fevers are usually 102 or above. And to reduce future annoyance and wasted copays, if a kid has a fever without other symptoms, in the first 5 days they almost always call it fever virus. I hope she is feeling better today, and that you still keep an eye on her tummy complaints. They don't always get it right the first time.
  12. Has she picked up a coffee or other caffeine habit? That is a simple, possible cause.
  13. We have used air mattresses in the past in addition to an old comforter spread over the floor of the tent. We are considering sleeping mats, but do not currently own them.
  14. Next summer our family would like to camp in Yellowstone. It looks like average lows in summer are in the 30s, and the campground (Canyon) is a high elevation. Here, 30s is super cold for any time of year. What do we need to stay warm in our tent that also won't break the bank? I don't want to be miserable for 3 nights. I also don't want to spend too much because we are unlikely to camp in these conditions again. We have regular sleeping bags already, but they are not for really cold temps. If you hadn't already guessed, we are pretty much beginners except for DH, who was in the military. Campers are me, DH, DD, DS, and DS. So, give me your best tips for what to do, what to buy, or tell me if you think we should just forget it and get a hotel!
  15. No, you don't need it. Get a nice digital scale that measures in grams and it will serve you better. We got ours from Home Science Tools for around $50. You can use your digital scale for high school sciences as well. On their website, they used to have a buying guide with what features to look for.
  16. Has your DS had German before? My son is in Landry's German 1 and to us the pace seems fine. For him, this is his absolute first exposure to the German language and no one in our family knows German to provide him any help. It took him about a week to learn the alphabet sounds and how to say and write the verse. He worked on it daily, but not for hours or anything. I think Landry's class is teaching to the level of a true beginner, which I am guessing your son is not, since you mentioned being able to help him with book exercises and your ability to judge the level of the textbook. Maybe it will improve for your family once the class gets to material he doesn't know. The only other Landry class we have done was English IV last year, and I thougt it was pretty challenging for 8th grade.
  17. One other thought about the math-If a student wants to accelerate or move up to an advanced level of math after 9th grade, the block schedule can make it possible by allowing a student to do 2 maths in a single school year.
  18. My dd's PS is on block scheduling like you describe. It isn't perfect, but not nearly as bad as I feared. Although English is only half the year, the history classes also require reading and writing papers so the skills are practiced both semesters. I don't like it for math, but dd has done fine with it. For science, it affords enough time for better lab work. The worst subject for her is foreign language. She has French 2 this semester but hasn't seen the language since last Christmas. There has been almost no review in class, so she is having to work hard to regain lost ground. Her favorite thing about the block schedule is only having unpleasant teachers for 90 days.🙄
  19. I posted a complaint a couple of weeks ago on a thread here about Notgrass world history and got a reply from John Notgrass that the materials could be returned for a refund. Maybe you could return your stuff?
  20. Have you tried Victoria's Secret? I know some posters have had bad luck there, but my dd had a wonderful fitter there and they carry unusual sizes that we couldn't find in department stores. She is thin but busty too. It may not work for you, but it might be an easier place to start than specialty stores since she could try on different sizes. I am not sure how low the band sizes go but the cup sizes go pretty large, even in smaller band sizes ( like you can get 32dd).
