  1. He is old enough to be my father (born the same year as my father :)) and I recognize him from A League of Their Own. Love that movie!
  2. I've been pulled over several times in my younger years. I even had to go to court once for being in a park after dark. Yep. Me and three friends in court and that's what we had to say when asked what we had done. lol I've been to driving school about three times and I've done community service twice. The last time I was pulled over was about three years ago in the middle of BFTexas somewhere between San Antonio and El Paso. I was doing 10 miles over the posted speed limit. Out of all my experiences, of which I think are a decent amount including when I was a teen, I've never had a bad experience. That is my experience. Even the time when my friend was pregnant and the father of the child was seeing someone else who worked at Checkers and we went to Checkers and she made quite a scene and we were banned from said Checkers, even then when the cop dumped my purse out, I don't consider it a bad experience. I can only imagine the inane amount of crap that police officers have to deal with on a daily basis. I would think it makes retail look like heaven. That's not saying that there aren't bad cops. I'm sure there are just like there are assholes in every job and situation. But I don't like to see people dissing cops when you know that is who they're going to call if they are in a situation where a police officer is needed. When I was held up and robbed at my job once, the police officers were amazing. When I had a roommates friend drunk and trying to push his way into my house when roommate was not home, the officer was amazing.
  3. I woke up this morning and went to my class like I'm supposed to. I'm not sure who that honors besides myself and possibly my son, since I am going to school to be able to provide a better future for both of us. But yay! lol My professor (who is Christian and has no problem talking about God and Jesus in a publicly funded community college class and has to be at least 70 if not closer to 80 or so) went around class today asking about what we had accomplished so far in the day. Being as it was only about 10:30, the list was short, but her point was to focus on what we accomplish versus having a To Do list or what we didn't accomplish. She said she got that idea from a reverend on some religious radio station that she listens too. A good idea too! My teacher is awesome. I would consider her to be God-honoring. Her love for God is obvious without being hypocritical or pushy or holier than thou in any way that I've seen. I've only met two other people like that in my life and I have a high respect for all three of them. My class is not a philosophical class either, it is Beginning Spanish. My teacher is from Mexico and she is not Catholic. lol She has stressed that a few times. I love her life lessons that she shares every week. Muy interesante, as she would say. :)
  4. I had three wisdom teeth pulled while i was at boot camp when I was 31 years old. I tried to convince them that I didn't need that procedure at my age, but they were not deterred. I had dry socket like it was going out of style. The soft food they gave us to eat was PB&J and bananas. I had to peel the crust off to smush the bread down enough to get into my mouth. One of the other girls in my division also had wisdom teeth pulled. I noticed once while she was brushing her teeth (and spitting!) that she spit out a huge clot of blood. I mentioned that she should definitely go back to the dentist and have that treated if it wasn't healing up properly. She wanted to be tough though and wouldn't go. A day or so later we were running in the gym. She wasn't very far in front of me when she just passed out and ate it face first on the floor. Lucky she didn't have any other type of damage to her skull/face! Anyways, don't spit. Dribble. And if you have issues, go back to the dentist. :)
  5. Okay. I had a sexy type dream last night. It was not overly juicy, but I blame that on the participants. There were two guys. I was with one earlier on in the day and the other later on. Neither of them were attractive and they were both older. I blame this thread for that (older, non-attractive, father figure type). It was not one of those enjoyable type dreams. To make it worse, Johnny showed up later in the dream, in a non-sexual way of course. Really weird dream.
  6. When I first glanced at this topic I thought it said "Storing him in the fridge." Oh boy. lol
  7. That, Mad Dog, and Cisco. The thought is vomit inducing. *shudder*
  8. I will admit that I cringe when I go somewhere and there are lots of school buses. I did that even before I had a kid! I just don't like crowds and will avoid them if possible. That's why I normally only go to Disney off-season. We went a couple of years ago for a one day trip during the summer season and it was hell. We figured one day wouldn't be too bad. It was. Oh my. But yeah, most school groups move along fairly quickly, so it's easy to get back to whatever exhibit we were looking at. We did the Houston Rock and Mineral show last week on Friday. It was kid's day, so you know what that meant! There were lots of school groups there, public and private. It was crowded, but it was also fairly easy to avoid the crowds. We just did other things while waiting for certain areas to clear out. I didn't see any obnoxious behavior and all the kids had a clipboard and papers to do a scavenger hunt of some sort, so it was educational too. I don't know where they got that because I couldn't find it just lying around and was interested enough to actually ask. :)
  9. Me either! I have never liked Mel and Tom I've disliked for a long time. I did see Interview with a Vampire, but didn't particularly care for him in that role. I've seen a couple other of his older movies, but ewww. My husband waited an appropriate length of time before he told me that he came up with the name Ethan from Tom's character in Mission Impossible (I think). He knew that if I had known that before hand I would have nixed that name. By the time I knew, it was way too late.
  10. I let my son start running my household at age six. He had already learned all there was to learn in life by then, so why not? It sucks about the child labor laws though. Otherwise he could be working a full time job, just like back in the old days. Or we could move to another country where that is more acceptable.
  11. I had Dabble in my cart for a couple of hours, just went back and it's been removed from the 50% off sale. *grumble* I wasn't heart set on it, but oh well.
  12. I think from now on when I see that book in a thrift store, I am going to buy it just to throw it away.
  13. I am newly separated and still unsure if it will be a permanent separation or not. If it turns permanent, I am not sure I can see myself starting that kind of journey over again with someone else.
  14. http://www.n2aos.com/ Here is the link for rooting a Kindle Fire. I found free sites too, but I think $20 from this company offers more piece of mind. Plus they offer software for turning the Kindle back if you want/need to. This is the same company I used when I rooted my Nook. IIRC, the N2A stands for Nook to Android.
  15. You can root a Kindle Fire. I used to have a Nook Color that I rooted too. It was a dual root booting from a SD card and I definitely noticed some lag when I was on the Android root. I have a Samsung 7" tablet that is nice. Really, all I do is play games, check email, Facebook, eBay, etc. I have an old 1st generation Kindle that I use for reading.
  16. I know we have a local Beg, Barter, & Swap group on Facebook. I don't use it, but some of my friends do. I only know about it because when they post something for sale, it comes up on my FB page. I haven't joined the group because I don't need another shopping temptation. :)
  17. Public figures get trashed on message boards, blogs, Facebook, etc on a daily basis. The only time someone gets upset about that is when it's someone they like. If it's someone they don't like, a lot of people don't have a problem with it. I think it's only normal to get a little bit defensive when a public figure you admire gets trashed, but really, it's such a petty things and so many people have so many different opinions that it's not really worth getting too upset over. I know I laugh at the ones I agree with and I scroll on by the ones I don't agree with. My commenting on it surely wouldn't change the posters mind and would really only be pot stirring on my part.
  18. Morocco is my favorite restaurant in Epcot, followed by Germany. I've also eaten at England, France, and Mexico. Mexico is my least favorite even though I love Mexican food. I haven't eaten at Mexico since they renovated it though. Morocco has excellent food. They sometimes have specials during lunch and they have an excellent floor show. Hands down my favorite restaurant at Disney.
  19. Is there any way you can take it to a different mechanic for a second opinion on what is wrong? I just did that recently with my car and it was a huge piece of mind knowing that what my regular mechanic was telling me was wrong was really wrong and the estimates I received from both shops were about the same. Do you know anyone who is a mechanic who can take a look? What does the shop you're using say about the shaking? My dad was a mechanic and I worked for a few years alongside a shop and one thing I noticed is that when you put new parts on an older car is that often more stuff will stop working as the older parts try to keep up with the newer parts. We always drove older cars because my dad could keep up with that fairly inexpensively and it was much less expensive than a car payment, but I felt for those I saw driving older cars that came into the shop and had those issues. :(
  20. I've never eaten there, but have at a most other countries in Epcot. I've always paid OOP. We usually only do one fancy restaurant per trip though because they are not cheap. :)
  21. In TX too. I love Amazon. Even if I hadn't just joined Prime, the increase to $35 for free shipping wouldn't bother me. I love another poster's suggestion about buying household necessities there too. I hadn't even looked into that because I am all about the books for the most part. :)
  22. I think they started charging tax around a year or so ago in states where they have warehouses or locations.
