  1. You know millions of people? I believe that was your claim earlier in this thread, that millions of people have been cured of cancer by vitamin B17 and essential oils.
  2. I play too. It is fun and can be a major time suck! I like having the books because my son's typing skills are fairly non-existent/just learning, making Google searching difficult, plus it encourages him to read. :) He devoured the Mojang Essential Minecraft book. I usually just use Google when I'm playing, but I have enjoyed reading through the books too.
  3. My stbxh plays, so my son and I picked up some stuff from him, but honestly i learned the most from hitting up Google. I did buy us the Minecraft for Dummies book, The Ultimate Player's Guide to Minecraft, and Mojan's Essential Minecraft book. Of the three, my 8 y/o likes the Mojang book the best. The Minecraft for Dummies book did come with a link to a printable PDF that listed everything that can be crafted in Minecraft. That's been a huge help to both of us. There's a server called Skrafty that is kid friendly. We play there a lot and enjoy it.
  4. I did too! I had never looked at his name that way before. So fitting, IMO.
  5. Playgirl Special Issue- Leading Men in the Patriarchal Movement. Featuring Bill "Got Hard" Gothard, Jim-Bob Duggar, and Doug Phillips!
  6. Wasn't Cat the one who mentioned Jim-Bob's impressive member? What is up with the obsession with these conservative guy members? ;)
  7. Oh wow. I don't think the Obedience Song would go over really well here at home. I mean I do fantasize about having an obedient kid who does whatever I say with a smile, but IRL I do prefer for him to be his own person and I think his independence will be helpful as an adult in the long run.
  8. Thanks! I am looking at the ones with 8 GB and, yeah, they're a bit pricey. ;) My stbXh told me I needed at least 4GB to run Minecraft. I have 8 on my desktop. I don't know what is on the older desktop we're running Minecraft on also. That thing is just slow in general.
  9. Which laptop did you get that can support Minecraft? No help, but I am curious. :)
  10. My son is 8 and I have, within the past few months, been letting up on all the electronic restrictions. He really likes Minecraft. Some days he'll get to play for a couple of hours or more, some days none at all, some days just for a hour. It just depends. I play too, so we Skype together while we play. We probably only do that once a week or so though. He still plays outside, he still plays with his toys, he reads books on his own time, he gets his school work and chores done, so I don't have a problem with it. I spend a decent amount of time on the computer myself.
  11. I recently bought a used Champion juicer. I love it! It juices everything I put in there, including greens.
  12. Can you see it via this link? I got this one in my email after (of course) making a purchase there the other day. It's not much off, but it's something.
  13. My favorite words with regard to this subject, courtesy of Madonna. Girls can wear jeans And cut their hair short Wear shirts and boots 'Cause it's OK to be a boy But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading 'Cause you think that being a girl is degrading But secretly you'd love to know what it's like Wouldn't you What it feels like for a girl
  14. I think the classes are meant to cover a wide range of ages and be pretty adaptable. We're currently taking the Mystery of History class and the periodic table class. My son is 8. I work with him on these classes, read aloud from the MoH book, go over geography, etc etc. I think the older kids do more work on their own. It's pretty obvious from the Minecraft building projects which kids are older and which are younger. :)
  15. We also use the Skrafty server. Both my son and I play on it. I haven't noticed any bad language and the admins and their kids are on pretty often.
  16. I'd love to see an Epic Rap Battle of History of it. I even considered emailing Nice Peter and asking.
  17. I am too. It's been asked a couple of times in this thread, but there has been no answer from those who use this to preface their writings.
  18. I've had plenty of used couches over the years. I rarely buy any furniture new. Our current mattresses were bought new, but I've had used over the years too.
  19. Is this used in speech as well? I see it used here to preface any postings. I would assume it is also said in speech to preface any talking? Otherwise, what is the point of using it in one conversational medium and not the other?
  20. Oh yes, I love the projects that require making more of a mess before things actually get organized and set right. I usually get part way through those and then don't feel like doing anymore, but have to otherwise I have a large mess.
  21. I have FB and a smart phone and love them both. However, I don't have any notifications set up on my phone and I don't go on a mad dash if it's ringing or something. I use it for me, at my leisure. It often dies because it has sat around too long unused if I don't go anywhere for a few days. :) I use FB to keep in touch with friends and family, as well as local social groups and other groups. I use the chat function. I use FB often, but I don't play games and don't spend all day glued to it or anything. I love technology. People know the best way to reach me is via email or FB messenger. I dislike talking on the phone. I rarely pick up my phone unless it's a number I recognize and even then I may not.
  22. My son is currently taking a history and periodic table class through Skrafty. I have him signed up for a creative writing class through Minecraft Homeschool, but it doesn't start until the end of February. He is really enjoying the classes. We're doing self paced. He also loves just playing on Skrafty as well.
