  1. That is a rather hard line to take. My son asks why all the time. I think that's fairly normal. I ask why all the time!
  2. Looking at the more closely, it looks like the two volume set is the same as the one volume, just split into two smaller books.
  3. Ravin, are you referring to the single volume of this book or the multi-volumes or are they basically the same? I looked this up on Amazon and saw this: http://www.amazon.com/Peoples-History-United-States-Volume/dp/1583227598/ref=pd_sim_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0B6DDS6ERYH16QP758WM But also this: http://www.amazon.com/Young-Peoples-History-United-States/dp/1583228691/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
  4. If it's an apartment or rental, I expect it to already be clean and ready to move in. I double check the cleanliness and move on in.
  5. I think you should give it a go next winter.
  6. I've not read the book and have zero desire to do so. Same for the movie. It seems to me another case of a parent trying to make money off of their child and God and neither of those concepts sit well with me. That's just my opinion though. :)
  7. Oh, I don't have it anymore. I lie. I just went and checked and I do have 1B still, mostly worked through. I showed it to him and asked if he would like it, just with less problems and he said yes. Maybe that and start doing Life of Fred again, I have some of those too.
  8. We have used Singapore briefly before, I will give it another looksee. :)
  9. :grouphug: :grouphug: I'm so sorry. I also hope you have a great medical team and that it was caught early. Cancer just sucks. :(
  10. Okay. I told my son I would ask. We are currently using Teaching Textbooks 3.We started sometime towards the end of last year and used it intermittently. After the new year, we've been using it regularly. He is now complaining about it. A lot. He really dislikes multiple review questions on something he already understands. Here's what he is looking for in a math program. Something that will teach him new concepts, have him do a few problems to be sure he understand it (around fivish), and then move on to the next concept. He wants to learn, but not have to do repetitive work. Is there anything like that out there? I think he would prefer a computer or online program, but I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks! Oh, he's 8, will be 9 in October.
  11. We finally went and saw this today. It was really good! I learned some new stuff from the movie and it covered some stuff we've been going over in history, so that was cool. Not enough of Benedict's voice though, IMO. ;)
  12. I say your post office needs an area just for package pick up! ;) I thought those were standard in most POs.
  13. I did not know that Malabrigo had spinning fiber too! :drool5: I spin, but haven't in quite a while. I do enjoy it when I do. I do both wheel spinning and spindle spinning. I've done a lot of dyeing too, especially with Kool Aid, but it's been even longer! I did enjoy it though.
  14. I hope it is nothing! I know the waiting sucks.
  15. The Paperwhites are $99. I am so tempted, but I already have a 2nd gen Kindle that works just fine, so I can't really justify it.
  16. Sue, you should be able to private message her on FB. The downfall to that is that it may go into her "other" folder and she may never look there. Are you friends with any of the same people? If so, one of them could message her and it should go through. I have a few high school/junior high friends. But I went to two junior highs. The first one was with people I was at school with from 3rd to 7th grade. I have not reconnected with any of them, though I would not mind. I just don't remember last names from that long ago! The friends from the second junior high/high school are all the same, as we all went to the same junior high, then high school.
  17. I am currently separated. We have been separated since July of last year. We will be filing for divorce soon. It is a relief and a grief. I am happier on my own, but I still miss him, if that makes sense? He decided things were over right about the time I was thinking I'd like to start doing stuff with him again. It was difficult. He had no interest in counseling or compromise or anything. So, I am overall happier on my own and I have faith that in time, I will see this is for the best. Our marriage has been rough for a long time. We almost separated/divorced in 2009, but gave it another chance. It was good for a while, but when down the tubes again.
  18. So, I was reading through the Houston Museum of Natural Science monthly magazine. I get to the section about what movies they are currently showing. I see they have one on the history of Jerusalem and think that would kind of line up with what we're studying in history now. I start reading through the description and learn that it is narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch. Done deal. We're learning more about the history of Jerusalem next week for sure.
