  1. We pay $190/month for 6 hours a week. This is for competitive gymnastics.
  2. Do these apps need to be on a smart phone to use in public? For example, can I download to a kindle or ipad, take it with me to the store, and add in the amount I spent without an internet connection? Hope that makes sense.
  3. Thanks for the examples. I am in CO.
  4. If you have had your child evaluated instead of tested with a standardized test can you share with me what your letter stated? Thanks! SJ
  5. I just tried to order the Instant Pot through Alexa but only the regular price is listed, not the prime day price..?
  6. Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison - so fun and interesting!
  7. I recommend looking at the YMCA campground outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. There are cabins and yurts available for lodging. I have friends that do it every year and there are a lot of activities through the YMCA, the national park to explore, and Grand Lake is nearby.
  8. The only times I have ever had a problem getting my orders on time are when I find them in my mailbox the next day (or two, or three) instead of on my doorstep delivered by UPS. How does that work? Does UPS take some deliveries to the post office?
  9. I love the slanguage book, thanks for the ideas!
  10. Someone we know made the US Olympic team for their sport and we want to get him a cheeky congratulatory gift. Something along the lines of surviving Rio. We are thinking the Worst Case Scenario Handbook for travel with some funny pages tabbed and a can of mosquito repellant. Any other ideas? Thanks! SJ
  11. It works well finding things that are only related to Amazon Prime. When you look for a movie or tv show it only shows the results in Amazon Instant Video. The voice feature does not work within apps, for example within Netflix or Youtube. We use it often to find specific tv shows, movies, and music.
  12. I also encourage teaching how to use a thesaurus to choose more interesting words.
  13. Have you looked at IEW's Theme Based Writing? Grammar is gently incorporated into the writing lessons. It is reinforced by asking students to include certain elements (adjectives, ly words, etc) and to label them in their draft.
  14. I did not serve in the AF but dh did as did some friends. As far as I understand: Yes, you can receive and send mail. Yes, you get regular sleep. Boot camp is about 8 weeks. After boot camp you go to the school where you learn your job. Sometimes you can sign up to be a recruiter's assistant in your hometown in between boot camp and school. My friend was able to call home every weekend. (This was about 18 yrs ago)
  15. My boys LOVE free comic book day!!! :hurray:
  16. I am feeling super cheap. We tip about $3-$4. If we tipped any more than that we would either pick it up ourselves or not order pizza. I had no idea people tipped as high as $10!!
  17. If you are on facebook try Drawbridge Fun Club for Homeschoolers, or something like that.
  18. Peak fall colors in the mountains is around the third week of September. If you are coming to CO around that time I highly recommend taking a couple of days to explore Rocky Mountain National Park. I recommend the National Park in the summer too. It is an amazing place ~ one of my favorite places in the state! Definitely go to the top of Pikes Peak via the Cog Railway. It is worth the expense. I wouldn't worry too much about the altitude. The people at the summit are used to tourists and altitude. They can help if anyone has trouble. Just be sure to drink plenty of water, enjoy the homemade donuts, and the view(!) at the top. During the summer be sure to go in the morning as we tend to have afternoon thunderstorms. You can pair the Cog with exploring Manitou Springs and the penny arcade that was previously mentioned. The shuttle has recently been approved to run all year so parking should not be a problem. Garden of the Gods is a must see. Definitely do the visitor's center. There is a junior ranger program if your children are interested. Rock Ledge Ranch is a living history attraction. It is located right next to Garden of the Gods and would be easy to pair the two. Touring the Olympic Training Center is a must, especially since this is an Olympic year. If you like to hike I highly recommend Cheyenne Cañon. There is a nice and easy out and back hike that starts at the Starsmore Discovery Center. There is also a waterfall, Helen Hunt Falls, that you can view for free versus paying for Seven Falls. I have never seen Seven Falls and I am sure it is beautiful but I refuse to pay to go there because I love the Cañon. Cripple Creek would be a nice day trip where you can explore Colorado's mining history. I have heard good things about the Molly Kathleen Mine. If you prefer to stay in town there is the Western Museum of Mining and Industry just up the street from the Air Force Academy. You could easily pair the two in a day. If you don't want to drive as far as the Rocky Mountain National Park then Mueller State Park is a nice place to spend some time in the mountains. As someone mentioned above, the May Museum is a neat place. It is near Cheyenne Mountain State Park. We also have a Money Museum. You could pair this with the US Olympic Training Center since they are both downtown. The museum is next to Monument Valley Park which could be a nice place to have a picnic. If you would like to see some interesting rock formations and let your kids burn some energy climbing on rocks and hiking then I recommend Palmer Park. DO NOT try to hike the Manitou Incline unless the adults in your group are fit and accustomed to high intensity cardio (children always do fine and scramble up like it's nothing!). If you are fitness enthusiasts and want to hike the Incline be advised that it will be closed Aug - Dec for repairs. This sounds fun - http://ironspringschateau.com/index_files/1home.html That's all I can think of for now. I hope your family has a wonderful trip! SJ
  19. We loved The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime. I have heard that 11.22.63 is good on Hulu.
  20. I don't remember where I read this but I read that brain training programs just make you better at doing the puzzles in their program and it doesn't translate to other things. ETA: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-motivated-brain/201312/does-brain-training-work http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/brain-training-doesn-t-make-you-smarter/
  21. Were you prescribed nebulizer treatments? That helped tremendously for coughing when I had pneumonia. I hope you feel better soon!
