I totally agree with you, Alley, about not giving unfettered internet access. I just meant the controls with something like Disney circle are more age appropriate than using the free time app. Good luck finding something that fits your family!

Amazon free time is geared to younger audiences. I think your 13 year olds are too old to use it. I would use something like Disney Circle that puts parameters on what they can do online and most importantly, I would begin teaching safe internet usage.

Little kids, and even big kids, need guidance on how to behave. As another poster mentioned, unless this is an ongoing issue this was probably just an incidence of another child making inappropriate choices. The proper response is to speak to the coach so the behavior can be addressed. I understand how hurtful it was for your daughter to be treated this way, but I would hate to see a little one quit a loved activity over a minor incident that wasn't even addressed with the adult in charge.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I have decided not to ask DS to read the book. The reason this book came up is because the final project of the WTMA Socratic Discussion class is based off of this book. The assignment is to read an abridged version of the book, annotate it, and choose a project from a list. The instructor mentioned the full book and said it was optional to read it. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to read the entire book, if the book was appropriate for DS, instead of the abridged version. Ultimately, the book sounds too intense, and I will be reading the abridged version so we can discuss it together. Thanks again for all of your insight! I love Penzey's spices. They sell more than just blends and everything is amazingly pungent. There is one where I live and I use their coupons that are emailed to get free items. Honestly, I don't read the texts of the emails, and I don't care about what they say. Instead I look for the coupon to see if it is something I will use.

Definitely lots of rest, and if you have had a fever for a week you should be seen by a doctor. The last time I was feeling that bad and it lasted that long I had pneumonia. I hope you feel better soon.
