  1. This is what I am do to help me plan for my kids. I've found a few things like (Singapore Science & Math) that are perfect fit for us and work great with the CK sequence.
  2. And the other Dead Famous books about scientists? Can you tell me the people who are featured in each of these books? I'm trying to figure out if they will fit in with what I want us to do for science this year.
  3. I bought my standards version at CBD this year and Rainbow last year. http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/cms_content?page=1771604&sp=102656&event=1016SING|1611446|1016
  4. What is the difference between buying the Phonics K homestudy kit vs the Teaching Tools and Student Kit together?
  5. 7. Can someone who uses this program explain to me what I would need to purchase? I am looking at this for a 6th grader who uses Hake Grammar and will be using Lightning Lit.
  8. Is this your main science? I was toying with using one of our Thames kits over summer, but this looks so much more interesting.
  9. No experience, but I went to the official site and found a bigger pic and description: http://www.thamesandkosmos.com/products/ms/ms.html
  10. Nope. I created one the first year I started based on the items I was using. I then kept little notes of things that interested me and plugged those things in when what I was using no longer worked for my son. I write my map/sequence in 4 year intervals so not to overwhelm myself, but it has really helped me to focus on what I want to accomplish.
  11. I would like my kids to learn French and Spanish. Right now he is doing LfC A and Sign and would like to continue those two and add in Japanese. Trying to figure out how to incorporate it all.
  12. We have been at this for 5 years going on to our 6th. Although every year, I feel like this is still the first year. 1) I wish I felt more comfortable/confident when I made curriculum choices. Too often, I've let my hs make me feel like my choices were not "good enough" 2) I wish I had worn my blinders more when coming to hs boards. There is nothing like seeing what other people are doing and getting a case of "grass is greener" syndrome. With that said: 3) Bandwagons are not for everyone. 4) I wish I accepted gaps happen, instead of freaking out and retooling everything to cover those gaps, only to find that I solved the first problem but created new gaps. There is a right way to fill gaps and there (imo) is a wrong way.
  13. I think I am one of 100 people in North America that LOVES rum and raisin ice cream. I love apple pie, BUT when I a young lass I happened upon a strawberry, apple, rhubarb pie. It was divine and that is my favorite pie, but alas I never found it again and I suck at baking pies.
  14. backs out of thread clutching my hole punch. I don't need a new toy. I love my hole punch. But if I had one, I would probably bind the science sheets I have pieced for next year and maybe the copy work/dictation exercises I want to use.
  15. what timing. Has anyone used this as their main program or would that be a no no. Thinking about my other dc.
  16. I don't know if I would say wrong fit, as much as I would say "I have found the right one" when it comes to a certain subject. I keep on thinking we are slip into the perfect thing, just like we slipped into singapore. No such luck so every year I continue to look for "it".
  17. try using Google to search, I find that I can information on the board more accurately. type: site:http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/ into the search bar and the info you want to search.
  18. I will be using parts of it that line up with CK sequence, I just need to find a Chemistry course (Ellen McHenry maybe) to round us out.
  19. We've been using Singapore since ds1 was in K, he is a unit away from finishing 4B. We used ETC until the bitter end (the coby of Book 8 I had was filled with a lot of errors and misprints). ETA: We also went through all the logic books on Prufrock's site (analogy books, lollipop logic, Countdown books, and Safari Logic books).
