  1. That is what I did. I downloaded the sequence and then made a chart where ds would be going over a 4 year period in History, Science and Geography. That way I had a better idea what I would be doing over the years, so far so good and it gave me a confidence I needed to purchase (or not purchase) items.
  2. Have you been to the core knowledge homeschool group at yahoo? There have been a few posts over the years of how people have combined CK and WTM.
  3. I wanted to bump this up and say a big THANK YOU! For doing the work for a lot of us.
  4. Have you tried your public library? A lot of libraries offer audiobooks like tumblebooks and overdrive for free.
  5. Do the topics build on each other? Or can you rearrange topics without much confusion?
  6. My coop friends say a lot of of the older kids (grade 3 and up) lack scissor skills and nursery tale knowledge.
  7. We should start a club, while my son could tie his shoes when he was 5, I realized a few months ago he had problem tying knots on things. I also realized his scissor skills were lacking.
  8. So if I wanted to use MM as a summer supplement which color would I purchase? We use the full Singapore package (CWP, IP, workbook) + Life of Fred.
  9. I have a chart that shows our future scope: Language Arts IEW Growing with Grammar Reading and Discussion Vocabulary From Classical Roots 5 Daily Dictation (for copywork/cursive review) Dictation 2x (using a dictation book from googlebooks) Math Singapore 5a and 5b Life of Fred- Decimals Science CPO Focus on Earth Science (earth science + astronomy) Prufrock books Orbiting Logic Logic Safari 3 Advancing through Analogies 2 Foreign Language Latin- ??? Spanish- ??? History Core Knowledge Sequence State History/Geography (summer study) Music/Art Instrument Meet the Masters
  10. to be fair they also own Hidden Valley, a kitty litter company and Brita.
  11. We continue with math and English activities. This year, I am thinking we will do music and art as well. It is very very light during summer so the kids can enjoy outdoor activities.
  12. I am so sorry this happened, and hopefully this will get rectified. I would still leave feedback even if you get your items. It is so important that people leave feedback, going by post count means nothing some times (think of smilie only posts can rack up post numbers).
  13. We are using My Best Handwriting by Didax. If you click on each book in the series you can look inside.
  14. :iagree: I think if there are signs clearly posted, plus the announcement before the talk, I think people should be prepared to be asked to leave. However, I would be prepared for a nasty-gram or two from people who will think "their baby" wasn't the only one and wasn't that bad.
  15. Singapore Math. It is the only program that I have never strayed from. We love it so much here, that there would be a small revolt if we could no longer get it.
  16. I know one was the dad left the child in a locked car and was robbed coming out of the store. The thief took his keys and the car. The other I can't remember the details. The other was a family visiting from out of town. The mother was pumping gas and the guy punched her in her face took her keys and took off in the family van. :(
  17. Twice last year in our area, cars were stolen with children were inside. I thinkin both situations the parents went in to pay for gas as the perp went and stole the car. Luckily none of the kids were hurt. In our area it is actually a charge of neglect if you leave a child under 13 (I need to double check). It is silly, but there are some cops that enforce it as a local hs mom found out a few years back.
  18. bookmarked this last year: http://ngfl.northumberland.gov.uk/Foundation/nurseryrhymes/resources.htm
  19. Another hijack (sorry) I bought this 2 years ago and never used it. We went with Latin for Children A. If we went to Lively Latin would it be too much overlap?
  20. I am using this for my 4th grader this year. What I bolded above was exactly why I chose it. I really am enjoying it and my ds seems to really like our time together more. I use the month-by-month planner, I felt like it gave me more room to use my imagination and gave me more tinker space.
  21. thank you so much for starting this. I've been researching how to do this and I forgot I could have asked the hive their thoughts.
  22. I love this thread so much right now. I really needed it after realizing what I have been doing for writing instruction just is not working.
  23. Thank you so much for this. This year I pieced together my history using the Core Knowledge website, but the above sequence will be perfect. Anything to make planning less stressful.
  24. We love using them. I also like using the Homeschool in the Woods Time Traveler CDs. Between the Pockets, Time Travelers and living books, we get a lot done.
