  1. I have the complete series on DVD, so I will pull that one up. Thank you. I think I might go over to amazon and see where this book leads me. good idea.
  2. My four year old has taken a major interest in what everything eats. Does anyone have any suggestions on books or activities we can do during this latest obsession. We play hungry-hungry hippos and count how many marbles our hippos have eaten. We have read the Hungry Catepillar and Everyone poops (since all that food has to go somewhere) But I would also love nonfiction ideas.
  3. When we used R&S we used the Teacher text, student text and also I purchased the worksheets for a little extra practice. We averaged a lesson everyday starting in September and we ended around the beginning of May.
  4. I usually open another window and go to google and type in site:http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/ then whatever I am looking for in quotation marks.
  5. I love both series. I did hate season one though, so if you find yourself hating it during that season hold on until season 2 and 3. Then Connor happens...:glare:
  6. That's the plan but I am searching their site to see if I can have something in print as well.
  7. My Micheal's told me I wasn't eligible for a card period. :glare:
  8. Also don't forget that there is a CK yahoo homeschool group that you can ask some questions to figure out how to make it work in a home setting.
  9. Ohh...if you go to the Living Museum, the Mariner's Museum is less than 5 minutes away (by car). So you can have a very full day with two locations close together.
  10. I will second Smitty's. It doesn't look like much but my family loves the occasional spoon. I would also take a drive out to Yorktown and walk around there. Then from there I would drive the Colonial Parkway to Jamestown.
  11. I actually bookmarked this thread to get a updates later on.
  12. Are we talking about actual instruction time or how much you block for school? My dc will be in grade 4 this year. I block out 6 hours of our day for school. There is probably about 2-3 hours of instruction time scattered in there along with experiments, snack/lunch breaks, independent reading time, and watching videos.
  13. We are doing the American Revolution cd and I am looking forward to that and the activities we have planned for it. I'm also excited about starting Math. We use Singapore every year, and every year I am amazed at how my ds does. I'm also excited about our History which is based on the Core Knowledge sequence.
  14. Walmart has sticker machines! (well the one local to me did) and it was under $30. Most craft stores should have them too, and if you have something like a Micheal's you can use you 40% off coupon.
  15. Question about the printer you bought. How much room does it take up and does it have a manual paper feed?
  16. Angela, as always thank you for the great idea. We are using a Time Travelers and your idea is perfect for their time line. I don't think I'll buy a label maker (those things are too addicting) but I might go out and by 8x11 sticker paper and print on those then cut out the figures from there.
  17. This is a really good idea. I have used this in the past with great success. And yes laminating makes it last a little longer.
  18. Does it have to be Labor Day weekend? Colonial Williamsburg is having it's homeschool week Sept 11-16.
  19. I found that one on either list, but I couldn't find things like Smash Lab, Time Warp Trio or Bill Nye (outside of Greatest Discoveries).
  20. I talk to my mom 1-2 times a week. Anything further we both get very worried about the other. She lives over 13 hours away so I don't get to see her in person as much as I like to. We have talked about what we would do if she was closer and we both agree we would visit once a week.
  21. I might be missing something, some of the titles mentioned here are not listed in the above link.
  22. Which cd were you using so I can make a mental note.
  23. I literally had this problem last night (and I have the same ADD problem). I was very  and didn't ask so I searched for the answer and couldn't find it. From what I can tell there is no print all. You can go into the drive directory and open the folder and select all, then print all the student text files directly. Then go into the Lesson Project files and do the same. I think my way is hard and there is an easier way I am missing.
  24. Here (3-5 year olds) swim lessons are 30 minutes and cost $18 for 8 meetings. There is a max of 5 students in the class For 5 and up classes are 45 minutes and cost $20-22 dollars for 8 sessions, class max is 6 students.
