  1. What are your thoughts on Challenge B? Have you been happy with the course study and retention? Do you feel your child has been prepared for high school? I'm on the fence
  2. I liked studying the early American History to modern times using many biographies for my daughter.
  3. My daughter is going into 8th grade and we are doing Classical Conversations again this year. How well do you think the curric prepares for standardized tests?
  4. I have been going back and forth on CC and have pretty much decided to enroll my 7th grade child in the fall...what are the cons and pros? Thank you
  5. I am trying to decide between both for 6th grade next year. I like the true classical flow of,MODG however I do not want to dedicate a whole year to ancient Egypt. I would need to find something else to supplement. Maybe need to add IEW? Not seeing a writing? Kolbe does have their version of IEW. It does not seem very classical, more like the flow of a Catholic school? Kolbe high school program does appear, very solid. I dont want to be changing programs every year. Hmm... I welcome all thoughts!! Tracy

  7. My daughter was HS 1- 4th grade and we are pulling her out to HS 6-12th. I am thinking of following the MODG syllabi? What are your thoughts? Thanks
  8. Thank you very much, both made great points! Jean, you were reading my mind exactly! Was it easy to make your own FF schedule? Sounds like the syllabus is ok for for a general guide but not to directly follow? My daughter is very multi sensory, I was wondering if the choices would be too dry? Thank you!!!
  9. I am in the same position!!! We are leaning towards MODG because of the proven test scores...but having a very multi sensory child know i may need to make some of it interesting . Look on Emmanuel books and the give you options within the MODG syllabus. Ex Iew ancients writing vs Old World America or Teaching Textbooks vs Saxon.
  10. Where are you and do you belong to any co-ops? New to homeschooling, classically, in Tx.
  11. I would like to hear your thoughts, pros and cons on following the 6th grade MODG classical model and syllabus. Thanks so much!
  12. Has anyone used this spelling program? Logically, it makes the most sense to me but wanted to hear your opinions before starting another program. Thanks!!! :grouphug:
  13. Thank you, Thank you for all the wonderful insight on both readers! I went and saw both yesterday and was feel in the Nook would be a good fit for her...then my husband met up and is so PRO Nook Color. He likes that there are automatic updates loaded as soon as they are available, and feels like it will grow with her... I'm not too sure
  14. Reading has finally "clicked" for my 9 year old. She is asking for a Nook for her birthday. At first I was thinking no way, but my DH pointed out it would only encourage reading where ever she may go...good point. Which one do you prefer? I would looking to buy the most inexpensive models. Thanks
