  1. Is there a weekly plan? I haven't noticed that, lol. We are using Standards edition. We have some issues with focus at times (like today). I sit with her the entire time to re focus her though. If I left the room I don't want to know how long it would take her to finish. We generally do 1 lesson a day, unless its short and she gets it. It actually usually puts us ahead. We just finished week 9 of school and completed Review 5 I think it was today. I think we're around pg 100 in the textbook.
  2. In most states K is not required. IMO if a parent showed up with a 6 year old for K they should automatically be placed in 1st grade. It seems like theory fair way to do things. Around here birth certificates are needed for sports like little league to make sure people aren't putting their older kids with the younger to get an advantage. I do t understand ow that's even allowed in school.
  3. Honestly, I don't put much stock in ER docs when it comes to OB issues.
  4. Handwriting is hard. It's not something you can really force. A tip I was given was to write the answer with a highlighter and then have then trace it. Last year I had to write Ll of dd's answers for her. Thankfully this year she can write them all herself.
  5. He sounds a lot like my daughter. If you're prepared to write out answers for him your life will be much easier. I think that's one of the most frustrating thing to me. Dd's handwriting doesn't match everything else (although it's getting much better now). We use Singapore math. I think I'd start with Singapore 1A and just go at his pace. As for reading maybe get some chapter books and see if he can read those.
  6. I think chapter books are next. Try Magic Treehouse maybe. We're in the transition too. The Frog and Toad are too easy but she's resistant to harder books because it takes her longer to read them.
  7. My 5 yr. old(March birthday) is doing 1st and 2nd grade work.
  8. Since it's not a tournament I'd go to the fair. Maybe someone can video tape it and you can watchit with your son later.
  9. I think I would do handwriting and maybe skip the Story of the World.
  10. We were supposed to start today but ended p starting last week because Dd couldn't wait. Our first week went really well. She loves her science NJ. I'm so glad we started last week because this week is busy with swimming lessons and tennis. Next week We'll have the week off for VBS.
  11. We just started this week. The first Friday book is Curious George so we'll read that as scheduled. Later on there are one or two books that are chapter books I think. I was planning on just reading those until, finished and then picking up with the next book when we finish.
  12. I drop my kids off at nursery and children's church if we're visiting a new church.
  13. We used it last year and it worked well. Dd learned a lot of things that her 2nd grade friend hadn't learned in PS yet.
  14. We start on the 9th. Sonlight Core A FLL and WWE Spelling Workout (we're done with phonics) A Reason for Handwriting A Apologia Astronomy Singapore 2A/B with IP and CWP Finish Sonlight Readers 2 and maybe do Readers 3 or just get oops from the library. How to teach Art to Children Easy Classicals state study
  15. Our library has a sign up date and then a date where you can start turning in your completed book forms. This seems to work really well. They also have a time vs. amount of reading. Dd has to do 8 total ours. They count pages for adults.
  16. That's awful! We just got a Roku and were planning on canceling our Uverse because of Hulu +. Ugh!
  17. We used a Reason for Handwriting K. We did it every day. It didn't take the whole year but a bit more than 2 nths I think. If I could do it again I'd do it twice a week with more practice on blank lined paper on the off days. Level K was not a problem but when we attempted to move up to level A it was a big jump.
