  1. Looking for a middle school science course that.... - has a textbook -and has dvd or online lectures -cost less then 500 dollars - self paced might be better any tips?
  2. I need an accredited program for 8th grade science, history and language arts for the fall. I would prefer something that uses real books not all online. He wants to use the credits to transfer back to public school the following year so it’s imporant it’s accredited. So so far I have heard of Calvert Bridgeway Laurel Springs (seems expensive) k12 (would rather not be online this much)
  3. Honestly there is no way Dh would agree to pay for a tutor. He had a tutor 2 years ago who really helped him. Since he has been school though it Hasn’t been the best. Last years teacher was aweful and this years teacher has been out more then she has been in.
  4. my 5th grade former homeschool student currently in school needs help with writing this summer. Don’t get me started on what has gone wrong with teachers. I have IEW writing intensive A and B or have heard bravewriter is good. His writing seems to be all over the place. Lots of ideas but not getting them across clearly. We will have about 3 1/2 months to work. Bonus if it’s written to student because he workes best with written instructions.
  5. Has anyone had their international rainbow resource order be lost in the mail. How was it dealt with. Did you get refunded or stuff reshipped. How long did it take? We have been ordering for 7 years with no issues but our current order is lost in the mail.
  6. My daughter (3) is really interested in doing school work, most to have something to do when older brother works. Anyone found any great workbooks. We have a few that she loves but would love to find a few more. So far we love Kumon Cutting books Fundanoodle Max and Alphie's Adventure activity book level 1 Get Ready for the the code What your Preschooler needs to know activity book My First School book (HWT) Bigger Steps Anyone find something similar to these they can recommend. Not a huge fan of tracing except for the HWT book. We don't do the written portion of get ready for the code.
  7. We did it till it didn't work for my oldest. He was ahead in it and at some point hit a wall. I am thinking it was in 3rd grade in E. At that point we bounced around a bit and ended up with Saxon. He was happy with that so we stayed put till he entered school in 4th. He entered school testing extremely high and has never had an issue with any math at school so I am happy with the foundation that right start gave him.
  8. My 5th grader is currently in his second year of school. Its been bumpy last year but this was his choice. We are moving and he may end up homeschooling for a bit. Could be 6-9 months. We will be moving internationally and things will be crazy. Need something workbook and easy to implement. So far I am thinking Saxon Math (cause he liked it and we have it) and would like something simple for writing. Any recommendations would be really appreciated.
  9. Currently I have a first grader (6 years old) and 3 year old at home. Our currently plan is Right Start C one lesson a day, book shark science, history and read aloud, Handwriting without tears, and possibly copy work. Besides that he plays soccer 3 times a week with his team. He also practices soccer with me about an hour a day for fun. Last year he was reading off and on maybe 1/2 hour to an hour a day for fun. As long as he continues that we wouldn't work on reading. My guess is school work should take us about an hour and then we do an hour most days of playing soccer at the park. Besides that we do card games and then the rest of the time he is off playing.
  10. I will probably only be after schooling till christmas. He has requested to homeschool again. He is in a private school, we live internationally and hubby's company paid till christmas so he wants him to stay till then. That said beast academy might not be a bad idea. We have it and never really used it and he might find it a fun. Will pull that out and take a look. =)
  11. DS(9) did Right Start A-E and we were halfway through E when he hit a wall in 3rd grade. We moved to Saxon 5/4 and finished off the year with that. He is in school this year 4th grade. MAPS test results put in the 95% for math with a score of 225. He is bored and wants to do math at home. Would you do Right Start G or Saxon.
  12. I am right there with you trying to figure out what to get my almost 10 year old for christmas and birthday. I was thinking a robot but really not sure either.
  13. I would like something independent for my son for 4th grade. Will do math separately and possibly writing but want it to cover science, history, literature, ect. Currently using book shark for history and science which is okay but would like to try something else. Considering Oak Meadow. Anything else I should consider?
  14. What did you figure out. I am after the same thing.
