  1. My daughter is very similar to your son(she can memorize a poem after hearing it twice but math facts...not). What has helped her is Quarter Mile Math-over, and over, and over....This is a computer program if you have not heard of it. For multiplication I started Math-U-See's skip counting CD about a year ago to prepare her for mult. when we got to it(I have held her back a year in math because she struggled so much with addition and subtraction facts). I plan on adding in flashcards after Christmas to help with the mult. facts that she doesn't know immediatley. HTH!
  2. I wasn't a Tebow fan but now...GO TEBOW! and this coming from a Georgia Bulldog fan!(for those that don't understand, he played for one of UGA's biggest rivals-the Florida Gators). We haven't missed a Bronco game since he was named the starter. I just read this morning that he was homeschooled, somehow I had never heard that(amazing since they can find something bad to say week in and week out about him).
  3. :bigear: I am interested in this as well. My dd has just been diagnosed with Aspergers and low working memory.
  4. Waking with them makes me think sleep apnea. I was recently diagnosed and used to wake up with them most every day. They are rare when I wake up now(they just come later in the day:glare:).
  5. I would just watch it. Every site I just checked had it for $25-27.99(regular price is 29.99). I checked toysrus.com, etoys.com, walmart.com, and amazon.com. Walmart was the cheapest at $25.00.
  6. I don't know about any in Hart County but there are several around Athens. I think Beech Haven Baptist Church has one(if you are ok with a Christian co-op). Good luck with your move.:001_smile:
  7. :iagree:This is my dd(8). Most of the time the tv is so low that I don't see how she hears it! It is for background noise for sure(she doesn't like a quiet house!) Once school is done for the day she can do whatever she wants(Wii, tv, read twaddle, etc..)
  8. Did you buy the CD they now have for the core? I think its $10.00.
  9. Not of much help since dd is fairly new diagnosed ADHD, but she has tried Adderall XR and Vyvanse-Vyvanse worked much better for her. She had to change meds because of a reaction to the Vyvanse and the Adderall XR was terrible for her AD(it worked great for her HD though). We have gone back to Concerta(what we started with) and it works much better for the AD(not as well for HD). I would love to find that perfect drug! I would call the doctor and find out why the the doasge is so different. I talked to dd pedi when he changed hers-he said they like to start low and go higher if needed(we were changing every week or two for a while). Good luck.
  10. We had this happen 2 weeks ago but it was the generic that was out everywhere, not the name brand. It took 2 days for our pharmacy to get it in.
  11. :iagree: This drove me crazy! I am from the south(have lived in GA and NC only) and I have NEVER heard this.
  12. So I assume that there is no danger in wearing the mask and using the humidifier as long as I rewash in regular dishwashing liquid? The antibacterial hasn't made it unsafe to use. Wow, I feel really stupid. I didn't intentionally use the antibacterial-I just grabbed it while I was talking and realized it later. Thanks for the website Priscilla! I knew there was one and have been searching the forum here to see if I could find what it was.
  13. Thanks everyone! You have given me plenty to read up on.
  14. I seem to remember that several on the forums here are CPAP users. I have just received mine and was told to only use MILD dishwashing detergent to clean the mask, tube and humidifer. Well, being the intelligent person I am, I washed it with antibacterial Palmolive instead of the plain Palmolive. Does anyone know WHY we aren't supposed to use anything with antibacterial in it? When I asked the people I bought mine from they didn't have any idea why:glare:. Would washing it with a vinegar solution erase any harm that I have done?
  15. :iagree:When they have a job and can pay for it themselves. We buy them a regular phone when they start driving for emergencies but they pay for smart phones, texting, etc...*I* don't even have a smart phone!
  16. This is what we did with dd(22) when she started college at 18 and have done with ds(18). When dd turned 22 and graduated from college we had dh taken off the card.
  17. :grouphug:. We have private insurance through dh's job so I am of no help with what Medicaid will pay. What I will say is I wish I would have had dd tested earlier. I knew something wasn't quite right and it wasn't until I brought her home to homeschool(after k) that I realized I was correct(ADHD, Aspergers, memory and processing issues). This is a looong process-dr referrals, finding the right meds, therapies, etc...If your husband agrees with you in having her evaluated please do so NOW. **BTW, with started with a referral from dd's pediatrician to a neuro for evals.
  18. :grouphug: I *so* understand. I know most of the testing and services we could get through the public school system here but I wanted to a true evaluation(ADHD, Aspergers, memory and processing issues). With school systems having funds cut I was worried that they would say what would benefit them. I am not sure what you are thinking he may need but our insurance is covering OT and speech therapy. The test results haven't processed through insurance yet and I am on pins and needles until I see if they pay for the actual testing(we only had a co-pay for the initial neuro appt). Good luck.
  19. Heading to Amazon to check out the book! Thank you
