  2. Homeschoolbuyersco-op has a 15% discount but you do pay shipping. Rainbow Resource has free shipping over $150.00 and they are a few dollars cheaper than CBD.
  3. Thanks, that is very interesting. The doctor just changed her medication and I am supposed to let him know at the end of the week how it is doing. I may bring up the anxiety issues when I do.
  4. Thanks to all of you! I am still trying to decide but leaning toward Shurley English for next year. Keep the comments coming!!
  5. I need help choosing an English program for the fall. DD(8) needs a program that needs to be hands on and lots of review. We were recently diagnosed with ADHD and are on meds now but I believe she is still going to need something with a lot of review(and slow moving). I have been looking at Shurley English because of the jingles, hoping that the jingles will stick with her. We have tried FLL 1 and she knows the definition of a noun-we need something like that that drills the grammer terms into her head. I am looking for something that spends time on each area but will also be applied in worksheets(the downfall of FLL 1 and 2). Any ideas? Anyone use Shurley English and want to give me the pros and cons?
  6. I have been on Prilosec for years. I can eat most anything I want as long as I take my pill every morning. There are times that some spicy foods will bother me but I never know when that will be. I can eat it one week and be fine but eat it another week and it bother me. And boy do I eat spicy foods! I didn buy a wedge when I was fist diagnosed but it was terribly uncomfortable. I have been told by doctors that putting extra pillows under your head doesn't help.
  7. The comment on tickling was made on Saturday, not a school day. We noticed she was being very serious and when I tried to tickle her she didn't try to move away or laugh. I see a big personality change, but believe it is going to be necessary to be on medication. It was a big shock when we started her Saturday. Yesterday wasn't as bad, so we will try this for a while and see how things go. Thanks to all of you for the info!
  8. Thanks for the info. I was wondering if the dosage may be too high. I hate to lose her playful personality but she was having major difficulty in her schoolwork. She couldn't remember what she was taught 5 minutes ago. With that being said, I know she will have to be on meds, I just wish it didn't change her personality so drastically. I will give it a few more days and if I think it is too much I will call her dr and ask his opinion.
  9. My dd(8) was recently diagnosed with ADHD with anxiety. We had suspected for a while but I wanted to be absolutly sure before having her evaluated and put on meds. Today was her fist day of meds(Vyvanse, 30 mg) and I am not liking the personality change. My dd has gone from always smiling and giggling, to serious and not wanting anyone to even tickle her(she used to beg us to tickle her). Is the personality change normal on these meds? I expected calmer, just not a complete 180. I feel sooo lost! I don't have anyone I know IRL with ADHD(not on meds anyway) to ask about what's normal/what's not. Any info would be wonderful.

  13. Do you have a local "hometown" bank? Not owned by bigger banks? It seems they are more likely to have checking without monthly fees.
  14. I have to do the same with my just turned *8* year old. However, we did just get an ADHD diagnosis, so this could explain her lack of interest.
  15. The Boxcar Children Gooney Bird Greene(there are 3 or 4 books) Mrs Piggle Wiggle Henry Huggins, Ramona, etc...(Beverly Cleary is great) Pippi(I plan on reading this to my dd this next year) Encyclopedia Brown books
  16. Delsym is what our doctor has recommended in the past. Have you tried a humidifier?
  17. Homeschoolclassifieds.com and Sonlight(only SL items for sale on their site)
  18. What does your doctor say? It sounds like you are doing everything right and *I* think his weight has to do with his height. If I remember correctly, 5' should be 100 lbs, and add 5 lbs for every inch after that-this would be average.
  19. *I* really like BJU English. It is something that you will have to sit down with him and "teach" the lesson, then they do one worksheet. You do the front side with them to make sure they are understanding the material then they do the back independently. If further review is need there is a CD ROM in the back of the TM for printing more worksheets. I have tried FLL(dd likes it but I wanted a little more application), Rod and Staff(daughter didn't like all the writing, I didn't want to do it orally), and A Beka. I find this is just the right amount of teaching and written work. **BJU alternates the units between grammer and writing, just to let you know. We use another writing program and don't do those units but they look gentle in 2nd grade(what we are using).
