  1. Anywhere, be sure to check out the clearance sections and end of season sales. I have a small basket just for kitchen towels and napkins. I wash them once a week alone and never fold. I have a big/deep drawer and just plop them into it.
  2. I cook three meals a day here. I use small plates (corelle) or in a pinch paper for lunch, and I keep lunches simple. My dishwasher runs daily, but with the smaller dishes, most days only once at night. (The paper vs. dishwasher is something I have gone round and round about. We can recycle the paper and do.) Clean as I go, and I've learned how to not destroy the kitchen as I prepare meals. If someone else cooks....every dish, pot and pan ends up dirty:glare:.
  3. Don't sign until you have read and understand all the fine details. My sister had to sign something when she purchased her home and now is unable to rent it out with her current mortgage. I don't know the details, but she is not happy, and they've lived in their home for 5 years.
  4. Compulsory attendance in Iowa isn't required until the age of 6.
  5. My ds recommends the snap circuts Rover is $45 at Amazon.
  6. I've made the habit of declutter during the winter. Really can't say I enjoy the process, but it's worth the peace of mind. We have very limited garbage collection here, 1 can a week and it makes the process so much more difficult. We can take stuff to the dump, but that costs $5 - $15 depending on the amount and it's a hassle. A number of charities will pick up big donations free of charge. St. Vincent's The Salvation Army Good luck everyone. Flylady can be a free inspiration and help
  7. Staples and Office Max will cut the binding and comb-spiral or 3 hole punch them for a few dollars. It's been a while, but the last time it was under $3 here.
  8. They are both upstairs, and I believe one is reading the final book in the Harry Potter Series, and the other is playing with the wii. My ds can lift me now, lifts all the heavy stuff, and gets the high stuff down for me if dh isn't around.
  9. We'll still be using the same old stuff, but I did place order for the critters to dissect in our biology labs.:ack2:
  10. We've use The Teaching Company DVDs and Walch Art Books for 9th. This year she's continuing with more Teaching Company DVDs and a self designed photography course. Our local library has a couple of the TC DVD sets, so I've saved a bit on them, and ordered during their end of year 75% off clearance sale.
  11. I always thought it was spoiling me.:grouphug: They grow up so fast, and spoiling with love just wasn't on my worry list.
  12. The Well Trained Mind would be flexible to use with many books available through your local library. It wouldn't be difficult to include and incorporate Biblical history.
  13. Chicken soup will help with the cold. I hope you feel better:grouphug:.
  14. http://www.roadrunnersports.com/rrs/brand/New_Balance/ My dh runs, and loves NB.
  15. Bake it under mashed potatoes Bake under cornbread Make tiny pot pies in a muffin tin with just a tiny biscut drop on top
  16. Krista is correct. 120 questions, and takes much less time than the ITBS. It's also under $30 if purchased from Seton. Parents can give the test, and no degree is necessary to administer or order it through them. However, the test is normed in the 80s. There are more current editions available elsewhere. We've used the Seton CAT and the ITBS from BJU. Imo, the shorter CAT is very good for younger students or first time test takers. The ITBS is what we have to use here to meet our state requirements, or I would stick with the less expensive and time consuming one. ymmv The following provide tests to homeschool families: https://www.familylearning.org/tests_cat.php http://www.pesdirect.com/ http://www.setonhome.org/ http://www.bjupress.com/testing/
