  1. Yesterday went okay here. Nothing to rave about, but we got it done.
  2. I freeze them out of the skins and make muffins or banana bread with them. Those smoothies sound good too.
  3. I've lost with the 3/4 full rule, and simply eat what I want. I have made changes to eat and drink better, walked a lot, and cut out caffeine. It can be done, you just keep plugging away...day after day.
  4. I hear you!. Some dear-brilliant-friend suggested only one kind of sock per kid. That way on laundry day, it's all socks in the drawer no mates required. This still works for my ds, and dd has to match her sets:001_huh:.
  5. I'd smell it too, but I would also call the Costco meat department and ask about their date system.
  6. The gadget does look small, but for the price I'd give it a try. I think for big items, you would need another system or option. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B00126A1G4/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=15684181&s=automotive
  7. :iagree: My experience from many years here, is that our fellow boardies and posters genuinely want to help.
  8. Sounds good:). That's how our library catalogs them too. Inter-library loans are another option for some titles. I've used my Teaching Company catalog as a guide. But each year during the December sale...I buy my own;).
  9. Thanks for the update. I'm a flylady fan, but not a daily follower. The book was enough for me, as the e-mail were so numerous. But they did help. I may take the plunge again, since it's been a number of years. (I'm sort of a mini-flylady, as I try to work the system and declutter during the winter. That way, I'm free to enjoy the nice weather and skip the spring cleaning.)
  10. Library...Check your local library for Teaching Company DVDs. Many have them, and you can get an idea of the quality before investing your dollars.
  11. If possible, let him write in the text.
  12. Learning to read/listen to advice and opinions with an open, yet critical ear is often necessary. I almost always (skim/skip) read over hate / love reviews and in turn...re-read the ones that were used for a good length of time. Many awful reviews result from a misplaced or struggling child who isn't ready for the content, and lots of the love reviews are first week/month users. The work is what works, not the curriculum. Do the lessons day after day;).
  13. Oh, those are so cute. I'm taking the snow-man one, and making a dinner meal with it. I may even dig up our Bento boxes from Japan. Very inspiring thread.
  14. I don't know after all these years...My only plan is to get up before everyone else, and begin the day with a little quiet time to myself. That will be a little Bible reading, and then a check in on the boards. Today I'll try to plan out tomorrow's meals, maybe a little pre-pre cooking, and ensure the downstairs is neat and tidy before bed. I may even lay out clothes for myself tonight. A clean house with the meals ready or near ready, help clear my mind of that worry, and make any Monday easier. :grouphug:
  15. In Appendix B: Supplemental Activities WS does have ideas for writing across the curriculum (expanding writing into areas of current study, such as literature, art, music, science, or history)
  16. We have a two-story with a basement, and while I love the space the stairs are a pain. Laundry must always be carried up and down. Cleaning must be done on different floors...hauling the vacuum, mop, broom, cleaning stuff up and down, and vacuuming the stairs is a big pain. I make lots up trips up and down the stairs each and everyday. We are active, but one can't help aging, and the stairs are hard on joints. If someone isn't feeling well, mom gets to make hundreds of trips up and downstairs. Moving large furniture items like beds, dressers, exercise machines is much harder and often the delivery companies will charge extra for stairs. Oh, and not everything will fit up the stairs...Our king sized bed was bent/ruined. We have to settle for a queen:thumbdown:. Some children/people will yell up there:tongue_smilie:.
