  1. I grew up in Hong Kong. You only have less than 24 hours. You really only have a morning to sight see. Just take the taxi to your hotel. I don't know of a good hotel because I lived there. MTR is cheap, but it's not worth it when you are dragging luggages and kids. You need to have at least $500 HK for the taxi from airport to a hotel. I think you will spend less than that. They don't take credit card. Like Laura said, for the morning, you can either take the Star Ferry, or go to the peak. You may not even have enough time to go to the peak, because you need to wait for the tram. Taking the taxi to the peak will save you a lot of time, but it's more fun to take the tram. On Saturdays and Sundays, everybody is out on the street, so I hope you land on a weekday. Take the taxi back to the airport.
  2. I am using Gentle Iron by Solgar that doesn't cause any constipation at all. You can buy it from any health food store. I have been using it for over a year and my blood work comes out good.
  3. I use this probiotics: http://www.vitacost.com/jarrow-formulas-jarro-dophilus-eps-120-vegetarian-capsules I know it works for stomach flu virus for adults. I am sure you can use it on kids. It's just like yogurt culture.
  4. When my kids were 9 and 6, I had a need to just go out and do something by myself. So I join the worship band, the commitment is 10 to 12 hours a week when I am playing. My husband takes over the kids on rehearsal days and weekends. It is good for me because I really need the time off after the whole week of homeschooling, and to have time with some other adults of the same interest.
  5. My son refuses to cut his hair. His hair is now pretty long and gets in his eyes. We have tried several hair gel brands to pull his hair back, but they are not very strong. Is there something on the market that gels the hair well?
  6. I was a pharmacist in a retail setting. I used to work long hours, weekends and nights. It was not my ideal job, but the pay was good. Then I worked for a mail order pharmacy with a health insurance company. It was a monday-friday job. I checked for drug interactions and contacted doctors to recommend appropriate replacements when the drugs did not work out due to drug interactions or formulary. I entered prescriptions while the doctors/nurses were on the phone to make sure everything were alright before I sent the prescriptions to be filled. I also called patients and did phone consultation when necessary. It was a much better job. Fillings were done by machinery (I was not in that department), then checked by pharmacists. It is a good profession with good pay, although I really did not like to work weekends and nights. I also worked in hospital before but I did not like the environment.
  7. Last year, I had a very bad sinus/ear infection followed by a 24 hour travel to Asia. I was on the second course of antibiotic when I realized that my ears would hurt a lot if I had to board a plane with an active ear infection. So I went to an acupuncturist and it worked after a couple treatments (other than the fact that I had to get over the shock of 21 needles in my body).
  8. Is the curriculum rigorous? How do you like it? I need a curriculum that is a little more hands off for my 6th grader next year. Thanks!
  9. Thank you for all the advice! I was afraid to check back here in the forum for the whole day. I know I have to do something soon, or I will regret it. Thanks everyone!
  10. This is really hard. My parents are good parents. My mom is dying of cancer. She told me last night that her doctors told her to be ready. She is still fine, but weak. I have a chance to thank her, but I don't even know how to start. I think I am going to regret not say anything to her.
  11. My dd is almost 7 yo. She has a small jaw and big teeth like me. I just got a call from the orthodontist saying that she wants to pull 3 primary teeth to make space. I have never heard of it before. Back then with me, I only needed to pull 4 permanent teeth and do braces. Is early intervention worth it? Should I get a second opinion?
  12. I had always been in small churches when I served years ago. They pretty much just signed me up without even asking. This time around with this big church, he required 2 auditions and numerous reminders. Seriously, I have never experienced this before. It has been a painful 3 months since I contacted this church. Thanks, Strider, for telling me this! At least I know this is a common thing, and I am not the problem one. I am already in the church band communication website. He told me he is going schedule me in. Everything I have experienced with him has always been last minute. He might just notify me a few days before he needs me. I am really not the type to procrastinate for a worship service. This is just one of those things that I cannot procrastinate, because I can play really badly... in a big church.
  13. He is the worship pastor. However, he is also a counselor. He is the only one I should talk to, because he is leading worship every weekend. Really? I should contact the secretary? Last time I called her and left a message, he replied me instead, but I got the reply right away. I felt like I was pushing too hard. I don't want to feel like I am threatening him, but on the other hand, he promised me a schedule a month ago. I really just want to volunteer. I don't know why it gets so complicated.
  14. I was a solo pianist in small churches many years ago. I haven't been playing much for the past 15 years. Then I started again, 5 months ago. I have been working very hard to retrain myself and learn new skills to accommodate the needs of a big church band, because we are attending a church with a good size band. I think I did a pretty good job of it. I auditioned with my worship pastor at my church. He said he was going to put me in the team, but after a couple months of not hearing from him, he announced that he was leaving. Now my church is without a worship pastor. So I auditioned twice with another worship pastor at another big church in the area. He was very impressed with me and he said he is going to put me in the band in November. He even asked me to play a solo piece in Christmas. He is a very nice guy, but he is very busy. However, I have to keep reminding him to do things, e.g. I had to remind him to set up the second audition date. When he didn't reply my email or my phone call, I had to call his secretary and he wrote me back right away. He promised me in middle of September to schedule me in for November. I have reminded him, but I still haven't received the schedule yet. I am very disappointed and at the verge of giving up. One disappointment after another. I feel that I have worked very hard to make it to a worship band. I am almost there, but I cannot make it happen if he is not scheduling me and I don't want to push too hard. I really like that team too. What should I do?
