  1. I think a cruise is perfect. You could go and make your presence scarce but step in if needed.
  2. Universal in California has wonderful theming you can enjoy without riding--even if you don't do the HP ride, it's still enjoyable to walk through the links bc there is much to see inside the castle. Just don't get on the ride when it's your turn.
  3. Get a roll of teflon tape for a couple of dollars (Home Depot) and wrap tightly on pipe threads b4 screwing back. Forget plumbers putty. Wrong application. You should really try to get that off. Make sure you have a pipe wrench. That will help. Stuck drawer: wd40?
  4. Meh. DR sells a product. A method that can most help the masses, who have trouble managing their money and are prone to debt. If this is not your problem then a HELOC makes great sense. No mortgage? Awesome!! Smart ppl use tools. That is a tool. And yes we are DR people, but have found sometimes the cost of a loan is worth it. The cost is your HELOC rate. I view it like a service fee. A haircut is a service. Do you not get your hair cut bc you don't want to pay for the service? We chose car loans this time around even though we had the money. We opted to keep that money liquid as we have moved to a substantially higher COL area. We feel more secure knowing we can better manage our cash flow this way. We found car loan rates to be the cheapest we could find except mortgage, so that was the tool we chose.
  5. Overdrive app. Plug in your library card and download. Free.
  6. This is not long form narrative article but a bizarre murder involving a man my dad took a class from. We all followed this as it developed at the time. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1993/08/06/the-john-kowalczyk-case/824afab5-b5a1-4858-b073-7b331434b2b0/?utm_term=.c08b6f8d35b3
  7. My aunt has for amazing deals and is happy with it. Travel light.
  8. Personally I would say something if I felt the onus to call 911 would fall on me.
  9. My sister does it. It's like a 3rd income for them.
  10. Yes. This is what we did: 1.Get rid of everything you possibly can. 2. Pack up everything you don't need for the next 2 months. 3. Meanwhile consult with several realtors who do large volume in your immediate neighborhood/area. Find out what they recommend you do to prepare to sell. Do as much of that as you can. We replaced all of our flooring and painted all walls/trim. We also replaced our roof through insurance (hail) and hired a handyman to wash windows and caulk, repair and stain deck. We got granite in the kitchen and had the island professionally painted. Overall we probably spent close to $15k not including roof. Worth it tho. 4. Signed on with realtor, packed up more things, had house professionally cleaned and staged. Put on market. 3 offers in less than a week. We opted for not the the highest but the earliest closing date and negotiated staying rent-free several weeks past closing. This enabled us to have more leverage buying at the next location, and that paid off . All in all our process was excellent and the only thing I would have changed was beginning the purge process sooner so we could sell more and give less away. I'm a firm believer in getting your home as competitive as possible, and in choosing the realtor who knows your area best, who has lots of experience. Not necessarily your friend. It is the largest financial transaction you ever do so it should be an expert.

  12. I read it in the way you might answer "I'm from Ohio." What's the big deal?
  13. Yes to act/sat. Dd12 took the act in feb and was a great experience. I will probably have my other kids do it in middle school too. She came out of it saying she should have taken a full practice test prior and thought she bombed it. Then the scores came and she realized what colleges she could be accepted into NOW with those. Powerful to say the least.
  14. Don't. It's rude and can spread to others.
  15. Yes though they do make glass tops for some of their dressers
  16. Have you looked at ikea cabinets with drawers? You can have them design something exactly to your specs . Their drawer hardware is fantastic and smoother than what you would find in a regular dresser. I think it is a great idea to do that. Also the moment you spill water there could be a problem. Better to have a surface made for it.
  17. Is the Tuft needle one one prone to movement? IOW if my big husband rolls over will I feel it?
  18. Nope. Still snorty. Probably icky California.
  19. My 1 lb 15 oz micropreemie got a biophysical profile score of 2 (out of 10) so that's why she was delivered months early. Cord flow fluctuated direction backwards and forwards. Minimal fluid, heart rate fluctuated between 40 and 120. Intrauterine growth retardation. But now she is 12, took the ACT in February, and 82% compared to high school seniors. You just don't know.
  20. No matter what you do now, paint again to sell. It freshens everything up and will smell new too. When we went to sell we did what our realtor said to do-- Revere pewter/ amazing grey, sea salt and sherwin Williams silver mist in our bedroom. We had 3 offers within a few days. Even if you are in a hot market you should paint.
  21. Benjamin Moore revere pewter, unless your house is really open, large and bright. Then go with with sherwin Williams amazing gray.
