  1. But you are saying things the OP did not say. She is not asking for Zero Risk, she's asking for them to put a mask over their face, or at least act like a decent person if they choose to mask. You have chosen to respond with a falsehood, because she isnt insisting on that. Now if you are saying you'd never keep your kids away, that being a zero risk, then that's a different story. You must understand this. You don't want to lose your mom over something that is deemed low risk, but what if a grandparent is selfish enough to perhaps pass away before seeing their grandchild because they will not put a mask over their face holes?
  2. So they have fun, loving traditions and do gardparenty things with their little loves, but refuse to do a single thing to help you? That is sick. Literally sick. They're not being grandparents, they care MORE about their "team" and LESS about those children. They are making it crystal clear what they value more than their family. There is no way on earth I would step foot in their home. Let them visit outdoors while your child is masked is the most I could do. Someone said they would not keep their child away from an elderly grandparent that may not survive much longer. Why can't we say that the grandparent knows it may be the last time they see the child, so its worth it least wearing a mask?
  3. We use a National Optical compound. It's several years old, but everyone loves it. However, I have seen enough pond water critters to last a lifetime. At the moment there is an old Listerine bottle full of water that has been sitting in a closet for several months...I'm not sure what they expect to find.
  4. How about starting the Horatio Hornblower novels?
  5. But you didn't answer the question. What is your definition of the term that is being used by a multitude of people in a certain party? And you proved part of one of my points, no one but out of the loop has beens use that term, unless as an accusation. Thank you. I have noticed you did similar earlier. You accused people of victim blaming the student who was raped in a restrom, yet had no proof when someone called you out on it. Make a wild and dire accusation, then ignore.
  6. I also have noticed the past couple of days, every dingleberry with an R after their name has made a statement about woke, with cute add ons like wokism and wokers. Apparently they all got the same instruction page for November!
  7. What is your definition of woke? It's not a word people really use anymore unless as an accusation. But I think you use it often.
  8. The Pioneer Woman has a good sheet cake recipe, but my family doesn't like cream cheese so I make a cinnamon icing for it. https://www.thepioneerwoman.com/food-cooking/recipes/a11885/pumpkin-sheet-cake/
  9. Well I just went back and watched some sport kites on youtube...that is so cool! Does he attach a long tail on his kite and make it do those beautiful twirls and loops?
  10. I saw one of these advertised and almost got it last year. Then my husband said those are just called utility mats at other stores. I ended up getting a near exact one, also made in the USA, at Lowe's for half the price. I use ours in the mudroom, though, not for a dog. LLBean has better colors, too.
  11. He also once said " drag a $100 bill through a trailer park and no telling what you'll find" in response to a lady making accusations against Bill Clinton. He's a corporatist, plain and simple, using the word 'woke' to put down young people. He wields it in the same way others do CRT. He was a hack, along with his wife, decades ago. That was their claim to fame. Oh look! He's a liberal married to a conservative! Get them in front of a camera... I feel the same loathing toward Chris Christie, whenever ABC hauls him out and posits him as being an intelligent, thought provoking Republican who cares.
  12. Flip flops to use while showering and walking back to the room?
  13. He was a senior in 2012, I'm hoping he's gotten over the trauma 9 years later. They just pulled another fear mongering retread out to rile up their base.
  14. I am in NY. Since I had to send a letter of intent to the superintendent of my district, I decided to actually schedule a visit. However, I only made it to his secretary, lol. But she told me what type of things were needed, and how he wanted the quarterly reports documented. I honestly believe she is the one who reads my reports, but who cares. You can find horror stories of NY districts being just plain mean, so I am determined to stay on this person's good side and ask her any question that pops into my head.
  15. It seems like you are reading a lot into this re " forcing kids to interact". It happens today in nearly every dorm. Kids dislike their suitemates, they have ADD and need to find quiet areas, kids are loud. Many are outgoing, many not. But yes, common lounge and study areas are great for college age kids. Yes, socializing is important to them, probably s p much more than the amount of introverts that would possibly feel like this dorm was a prison. Have you been in a dorm lately? There are odd and loud and happy and weird noises going on it pretty much all hours, unless the RA's run a tight ship during quiet hours. Introverts will always have these needs and issues? Is this the only dorm in campus? Are they all going to be windowless? Maybe they can also make a dorm for kids that have soundproof walls, windows, with no suitemates, private bathrooms( mine has those!) And no common spaces to make them feel uneasy. I'll guess that the dorm will fill up, most will feel great, some will hate it and move. This is an article to fuel outrage, and I'm guessing some of your have kids that wouldn't enjoy this one bit, so it resonates with you.
  16. My dorm windows didn't open more than a few inches. Just enough for my hamster to escape and fall out. It lived. I dont know if I would have been able to break the glass if I had to?
  17. It's sunny, with great weather nearly all year. I think the warmest and foggiest is June or July, when most are probably not on campus. It's Santa Barbara! I seriously doubt these kids do much in their actual room except sleep and have sex, lol. The common areas have windows, and tiny dorm rooms all over deem that students migrate towards common areas. Maybe they see wonderful sun and feel cool weather so much so that going to a small windowless room to sleep is perfectly doable. It's not like they wake up every day and have to guess whether its raining or snowing or sleeting or 110°. $1500 doesnt seem nuts, I think they run $12 or $1300 per month here. I'd guess it fits prices for that area. I'd have had no problems with it in that particular area. I dont think my dorm had more than 2 exits per building, but its wasn't that large. It would be intersting to see what other large dorms require.
  18. Tractor Supply has thicker ones for about $15. They have Carharrt flannels with a hood that are thick, but those were closer to $50
  19. I order from BWB once a week, sometimes twice if I forget a title. It takes 7 days, always. I use the usps tracker and they use the same path each time, as long as the books i've ordered leave from Indiana. The cost of groceries is annoying but doable for us, but I know that even once things settle those food items won't go back down to pre pandemic. Coffee prices worry me, there's a serious drought that will affect supply for a few years as much as pandemic causes.
  20. I use farmer cheese. Unless I'm making sweets, then I use sour cherries.
  21. Yes, stereotypical comfort foods aren't known to be healthy. We all know that, yet we all have probably scarfed down 1000 calories of some yummy food at least a few times in your lives.
  22. I would guess he or she would be used to taking care of the kids. Reports said the adults hadnt lived there in months, but I'm thinking it's possible they'd show up occasionally and toss a bit of money at him for food. The news also said the electricity was on until a couple weeks ago, when neighbors started helping the kids and charging the phone for them. It is so sad a child feels that living in those conditions is better than calling the police, and that neighbors who were helpng them also chose that over cps. Edited - just saw someone posted more info
