  1. I'm not sure if this fits your criteria, but I bought some Scholastic Timeline items. I have 2 of their American history books, and their "lift the flap" timeline that kids can make; it also comes with activity pages.
  2. https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/IN10313.html This is interesting, it explains how national cemeteries deal with the topic. I have seen circle shaped, metal grave markers denoting Civil War veterans. I would never, ever remove a flag from a grave, even though I find this particular flag to be so much more than offensive. I think that Congress has declared them to be American veterans, even if they were traitors to the USA who committed treason. I would guess many who were killed had been duped into their lost cause, similar to the rah rah patriotic propoganda we are experiencing today.
  3. Pelletsinc.com Have not used them yet, but I liked their website and other offerings
  4. The popularity with labeling these days remunds me of the Meyers Briggs craze from several years ago. It was everywhere, all over the internet people were declaring what they were, etc. I think I encountered it on every forum I was on, from gardening to teaching to pet-care. It seems like humans have a need to label and identify. Couple that with youth and young adult experiences and expectations and here we are. It's not a big deal, unless you're trying to foment another silly outrage and gather others to your "side". It may also mean a lot of us are just too old and crabby to remember how it feels to be not old and crabby!
  5. I used to get Joybird ads on FB. The sofas are so cool and always look like they should be in a NYC loft with brick walls and high ceilings. I didn't know until recently they were owned by La-Z-Boy.
  6. Lake Ontario, a sweet little zoo, and a very good selection of museums
  7. Oh, my neighbor gave me a box of her old curriculum. I remember one is Kilgallon's Story Grammar, but I think I won't be able to use it for a couple more years. Did your children like it?
  8. Can you explain how her rigidity is positively correlated to being adept with math? Do you mean she sticks to a problem without easily giving up? So rigid personality wise, but not rigid in the sense of being unable to approach mathematics from multiple directions?
  9. Googling, there are pages and pages of recipes with sauerkraut in cake recipes. It's not that hard to understand. The recipes call for rinsing and chopping the kraut, which lessens the gross-factor that afflict some of you. Adding salt to chocolate has been popular for years, and also the sauerkraut adds moisture. It's similar to adding buttermilk to recipes-- soured milk?? Yuck! Same with mayo- it's just eggs and oil. I spent the past year binging cooking shows. Some were obviously time wasters, but others really did give viewers a lot of the ins and outs and whys of cooking.
  10. I'm just starting the homeschooling journey and have narrowed the choices to either Saxon or Singapore, so I've been searching through old threads here. It's tougher than I thought!
  11. My SIL rescues cats. I think she's encountered this several times over the years. I hope the steroid is successful.
  12. A bit of trivia- the DA who gave him this promise is the guy who led the defense of Trump for his second impeachment.
