Beginning of Hell Week, otherwise known as VBS.  Ours in in the evening, which I hate but I have done the photographs for the last evening's slideshow for many years and was asked to do them again.  Youngest will be working it too.  Makes dinners nuts around here.

Company is here for 9 more days.  Had friends from Africa here last night and two of them will be spending the night tonight after VBS as well.

Bloodwork for oldest this morning on our way to pick up the boyfriend to spend the day, it is their 2nd anniversary of dating today.  Usual plans ruined due to her inability to walk well so we are trying to help make it special.  Back up plan to picnic at the beach now wrecked from weather too.  Oh well.

morning chores done, still need to take trash down and make lunch for dh.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Good morning :) We had a massive line of thunderstorms come through for about two hours last night, beginning at 11:30. Dd ended up in our bed for the first time in ages  So I'm starting off the day a bit tired (and I don't have the option of caffeine, sigh).

My day looks kinda full:

--exercise

--laundry

--freeze more blueberries

--check for storm damage to plants and trees

--chemistry planning

--email a local museum about loaning rock and mineral specimens for our elementary science day this fall

--send dd the links to additional reading/videos for this week's AP Human Geography

--tally volunteers

--house-related items on the Home Routines app (giving it a try :))

Have a good one

Would someone like to volunteer to put up the tackle thread for this week - starting tomorrow (or tonight) and ending Sunday (or Saturday night)?  I'm going to be gone to visit my dad and family.  I'll probably check in here but my time will not be my own and if my dad dies then other things will most definitely be on my mind.  Just PM me if you are willing to do it.  I do it the night before because I'm on the west coast and most of you energizer bunnies are three hours ahead of me (as well as Melissa who is even more hours ahead!) but if you're on the east coast of the US you could probably do it the morning of, if you wanted to.

Hi Ladies!

Well, the countdown has begun.... two more weeks of summer vacation.

If this vertigo let's me get out of bed, today I will...

** do laundry

** bills and budget work (gotta find out exactly how much I spent at Homeschool convention this weekend)

** housework (we let the cleaners go)

** start long-term lesson planning

** make a bouquet for the table

Had a little breakdown this morning.  Not crying.  Just had my brain shut down and I could not figure out how to do the stuff I was supposed to do.  It just seemed all so overwhelming.  Prayer and talking myself through it did the trick.

Scheduled airport transportation

Cancelled egg delivery

Told ds that he's helping me today.  He's working on all-day laundry.  He's such a good kid.

Now I need to figure out how to turn the shower on. . . .

Jean :grouphug: Be gentle on yourself!

So I did a pile of chemistry planning after hanging the laundry/cleaning up from bfast/random stuff...and then looked up to see it was 1:15

The house is sooo quiet with only dd14 here that I was totally in the chem zone :D

So I need to quickly hydrate and grab some exercise before making the polenta that is a portion of dinner. Sheesh!

Thankfully, the insomnia seems to be resolving, so I won't need more than a quick nap today :-)

Done:

edit a paper for someone (48 quotation mark errors in 3 pages....UGH!)

put laundry away

cook lunch

To Do:

Costco trip

Bible Study

quick nap

wrap up paperwork for Board of Teaching

Would like to:

lose 5 pounds

write lessons plans for conceptual physics

win $1,000,000

(sadly probably none of these will happen)

Beginning of Hell Week, otherwise known as VBS.

I feel for you!  I'm just not a little kid teacher.  Plus, little kids and an evening activity are not a good combination.

We now volunteer to design/build the main set.  I like that much better than wearing a costume and managing 3 year olds all evening.

HUGS!!

I am having a hard time wanting to tackle anything today. My grape jam failed miserably - wouldn't set even after I un-jarred it and tried the "jam fix" with more pectin, etc. So now I have 5000 jars of grape syrup. Gross.

I didn't have the heart to make any more jam today so I made a dozen mini loaves of peach bread. Took dd on a birthday shopping trip for shoes and did math and phonics/grammar with the youngers. Maybe later I will chop and freeze more peaches and go through one more box of school stuff that needs sorting/putting away. Can she do it? Yes she can!

Jeannie (hope you don't mind me calling you "Jeannie". I love that name! ) Praying for you, girlfriend! One step at a time!

Well, vertigo subsided around 9:30am, so I'm up and at 'em.

** baked a double batch of zucchini bread.

** baked one batch of regular bread

** laundry in progress

** dinner in crock pot

Going to make lunch now. Smoothies. I took a seminar on healthy homeschoolers and was convicted that we eat too much sugar and processed cr@p, so we'll be having smoothies with a handful of greens thrown in (2 handfuls for me) and sandwiches on homemade bread and no chips. Chips are my downfall. Plus, they're easy and the kids love them. I didn't buy any, though grocery shopping yesterday. So, we just need to finish what we have and then there will be no more.

Time Warner released an actual scene from Outlander. Because they're promoting multi-platform viewing, I had to watch part 1 on the desktop (fortunately already turned on from the work I'm not doing), part 2 on my phone, part 3 on the iPad. This has completely derailed me. Because now I'm going to watch it again. But smarter this time. I'm going to actually take the MOBILE devices TO THE DESKTOP, instead of running around to different rooms. *facepalm*

Thank goodness the washing machine carries on by itself.

YIKES Tammy!  I hope y'all are ok.  I am severely allergic to poison ivy too--feel better soon!!

I've done an insane amount of laundry for a Monday
It's now all on my bed waiting to be folded
Played outside with the kids until it got too hot
Made muffins
Made a pasta salad for supper to go with the chicken dh grilled last night

The dining room floor AND TABLE are all clean now.  (The floor wasn't very bad - it was the table that was yikes!)  But I still can't find the wedding card and gift card that I was going to take with me on my trip. I guess I'll have to run out and buy a replacement.  Unless I sent it already.  Did I send it already?  I wish I had a brain. . .   anyone know the way to OZ?

Tammy, I still have scars on my arm from that brief encounter with poison ivy this spring. My reactions seem to be getting worse and worse (it's been a good 6 years since the last one). I promised dh that I'd go to the doctor ASAP if I'm ever exposed again. I'm glad you went in for treatment!

:grouphug: and prayers Jean.

Hope you're both feeling better soon Tammy.

I missed posting this morning. DH is on call this week so I'm pretty much on my own. He left before we woke up and just walked in at 8:30. We got school done, read the Hobbit to little DS (the first book he's sat and listened to ever) up to where the second movie ends, cleaned up for the dishwasher installation tomorrow, fed everyone, and now we are watching the second Hobbit movie.

Thanks so much for the well wishes...I have never, ever been so itchy in my whole life!  By tomorrow morning, she said I should see improvement.  I'm  actually praying for that miracle.  Off to take a cool shower and more medication.  Hopefully I'll sleep.

Hope everyone is faring well!

I just got over poison sumac... thank God for vinegar, calaclear and steroids!

I made chocolate chip pancakes, Natural Bacon, and fresh eggs for breakfast

I am so grateful to be able to pick veggies and battle weeds.

Mixed up soap spray and added cayenne pepper to it.  I sprayed our squash, tomatoes, okra, sweet potatoes, and japanese green beans with it!

I also picked a load of organic veggies to sell tomorrow to a local restaurant, dh is delivering them for me :)

I used my "new" salad shooter ( $2.50 thrift shop find) and it worked great on squash and zucchini.  Bagged up several bags for making casseroles and bread later :)

I am grateful ds17 made us lunch

BLT's for supper and cucumbers I sliced with the salad shooter.

Washed and folded 1 load of laundry

Paid my DR... dh did anyway! Thank God I got a discount and almost sold enough books to pay it off.

I was planning on calling his office today but will tomorrow.

We got our dc insurance plans today and I put them up in  a safe place.

While I have been working... dc have been messing :(  I picked up our bedroom 2 times and lots of trash!)

My mom brought dd10 back at the end of my meltdown... and gave us 12 quarts of green beans, fresh made apple puree  ( hot with cinammon) and some in bags to freeze :)

I gave her new jars I just bought to help with her canning.

I am soaking oats to have with the apples in the morning.
