Ground beef dishes

I want a new recipe. I buy the leanest ground beef, in case that makes a difference.

I make:

cheeseburgers

spaghetti with tomato sauce

shepherd's pie

meatloaf

And most recently stuffed bell peppers which did turn out good.

Is there something else I can try?

There are lots of good chili recipes out there.  Chili was a staple in my family growing up.  I make it pretty often.

My MIL doesn't cook well, but she makes good chili and I make the recipe she uses now too:  Friday Night Chili (cooks.com).

I also make a curry similar to this one (food network).

I used to like Shepherd's Pie, which is traditionally made with lamb but can be made with beef.  I don't make it anymore but it's another idea for you.

Swedish meatballs (which I make with 50% pork)

Make-your-own tacos (I stretch the meat with beans)

Chili (ditto)

Meatball parmesan (50% turkey)

Sloppy joes (stretch with lentils or do 50% turkey)

Enchiladas (bean and sweet potato)

Stuffed cabbage (I don't stretch this with anything!)

Ants climb a tree (which is usually made with pork, but, I mean, you can use beef)

Moussaka (though if you can get ground lamb....)

Lasagna (I tend to stretch this one with turkey)

Porcupine meatballs

Pastelon

Empanadas

Nachos

BBQ or sweet and sour meatballs

Dirty rice

Aush (mmm, reminds me, I still haven't had my birthday dinner)

Kaddo bourani (and I know exactly what I'll eat when we go out, too!)

I've never tried chili. That sounds good.

You've never had chili!? Oh, boy. Is anybody else interested in making Night Elf run a one-person chili cookoff? We'll provide the recipes, she provides the cooking, and her family is the judge!

Meat and Potato Pie

The amounts can be adjusted based on your preferences. I prefer a little less meat and a little more green beans/potatoes.

1/2 - 3/4 lb ground beef.

1/2 - 3/4 bag frozen green beans

4 potatoes, diced very small

1 package onion soup mix OR 2 beef bouillon cubes, 2 tsp onion pwdr, 1 tsp garlic salt and other spices as desired

1 cup water

Top and bottom pie shell

Mix meat, green beans, potatoes, onion soup mix and water in mixing bowl.

Spray pie pan with cooking spray or grease with butter.

Unroll bottom pie shell in pan, fill with meat mixture, unroll top pie shell on mixture. Pinch edges so the pie crusts are closed. Cut vent slits in top of crust.

Bake at 325 for two hours.

I like to top with gravy.

I really like this dish a lot.

Garga, that sounds good - do you brown the beef first? or mix everything together raw?

Raw! That's what makes it so great!

Raw meat, raw potatoes, frozen veggies. It's probably also why it takes a full 2 hours to bake, but it's pretty easy to prep. :)

We love this dish in our house, too.

I make this Pakistani Kima with some frequency:

Although I double all the spices.

My family also likes this Middle Eastern rice dish.
