goldberry
I found a beautiful trifle bowl at the thrift store and want to make a trifle for superbowl Sunday. Any favorite recipes? Can I use frozen strawberries or blueberries? The fruit isn't good right now at the store. Pound cake or angel food cake?
gardenmom5
any of the above as they strike your fancy. a trifle of this, a trifle of that, a trifle too good to pass up. we use a white or yellow cake - but pound cake sounds good. and strawberries are great with angle food cake - and whipping cream . . . . what makes a good combo for you? eta: thaw frozen berries first. Kassia
I love trifles! I like to use chocolate cake or brownies in mine, but I love pound cake or angel food cake with berries and whipped cream. I haven't tried all the recipes here - I had these pinned. This one used frozen berries: http://www.makinglifeblissful.com/2015/02/easy-valentine-trifle-dessert.html Someone in the comments here said they used frozen berries: http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/fresh-berry-trifle-165495.aspx peanut butter trifle: http://www.frugalfanatic.com/candy-recipes-reese-peanut-butter-trifle/ Oreo Trifle: http://www.frugalfanatic.com/oreo-trifle-recipe/ Death by chocolate: http://yankeesmartass.com/lifestyle/cooking/death-by-chocolate-trifle-recipe/ And now I'm hungry! Storygirl
I have never made a trifle but think they are beautiful and delicious. So I hope you get some good ideas. But I have to admit that reading your title immediately made me think of Rachel's trifle in Friends. Whatever you do, don't make hers.

Storygirl
I usually go for a chocolate dessert, but I think I vote for berries.

Sandragood1
We love lady fingers or sponge cake layered with custard, canned peaches, seedless raspberry jam, and blue berries. Then generously sprinkled with cream sherry. Whipped cream in top. Oh my. Now I want to make one. Or rather, eat some.
Tree Frog
I have a strawberry cheesecake trifle I like to make. I don't make it very often because it's rich and serves a lot more than our family of 4 needs. But it's yummy!
Chris in VA
Mine is simple. I layer Sara Lee poundcake with Pollaner All Fruit Raspberry jam spread on it, with Byrd's Custard, then a layer of blueberries, then kiwi, then more cake w jam and custard, more fruit and then whipped cream on top (sometimes decorated with friut but it sinks in so not usually).

lailasmum
I made a really nice trifle at Christmas. It was Madeira cake, defrosted frozen raspberries, raspberry jelly (quick set vegetarian type as it tastes more cleanly fruity and isn't too sweet), raspberry blancmange, vanilla custard and then whipped cream on top with a few sprinkles to finish it off.Took quite a while to make since several layers need to set.
