Pam "SFSOM" in TN
Don't you just LOVE this time of year? Roses are red, Violets are purple Candy is sweet, And so's maple-surple. This board is so fun Until the election Or 'til All Hallows Eve Spoils the perfection. Dysons and Divas, Saxon and Harry Santa and Chick tracts And if gays should marry. A common thread joins us As we share in this space It binds us together In our common race. So let us be gentle As each bears a burden And let all our words Be help for the hurtin.' (Forgive me for that last one. I'm late for class, and I gotta run. :D) Edited October 21, 2008 by Pam "SFSOM" in TN It's "tracts," not "tracks." lovemyboys
Roses are red, Violets are purple Candy is sweet, And so's maple-surple. :D) Pam, my ddad wrote each of us kids a homemade valentine's card every year. His poetry was as excellent as yours. Thanks for the memory. Fwiw, one of my IRL homeschool groups got into a mini brouhaha about this issue several years ago so I stay away from any of it with a ten-foot-virtual pole.

OnTheBrink
So it's gettin' ugly in there, in those Halloween threads? I don't even open 'em. I'm afraid to look. OH, I don't think they're ugly, really. I think they've stayed pretty civil. Politics, otoh, completely stresses me out. With Halloween, it is what it is; people can treat it how they like and your life isn't changed. With politics, I'm never confident of truth from any candidate and the fact they all LIE LIE LIE bugs me to death. *going off to get my foil hat*

But then, it's not just he Halloween threads that scare me. Cockroaches. Poor Janna. Couldn't open that one. Help with make-up? Can't do it, but not because it's frightening, but more because.... that's just a language I do not speak. Puppy eating it's own poo? Couldn't wait for that one to disappear to page three or four. You get the picture. I'm easily repelled.

Sahamamama
I've been meaning to ask you, "Who is Thatone?" Duh. Sorry, do you mean "That One?" I don't get it. Liked the poem, though.
Pam "SFSOM" in TN
I've been meaning to ask you, "Who is Thatone?" Duh. Sorry, do you mean "That One?" I don't get it. Liked the poem, though. In the last presidential debate, Sen. McCain pointed to Sen. Obama and said, "And do you know what that one did?" Sort of like your uncle would say to your pesky nephew. Some people got all freaky deaky about it, rightly or not, and some in the Sen. Obama camp got all annoyed and mad. But some people got real tickled by it and by the next day, there were buttons that said, "That One '08" and I copied it to my signature line while laughing. It was co-opted for the campaign instead of going on and on about it. Sen. McCain referred to it at the Alfred E. Smith dinner the other night. He said that was to counter Sen. Obama's new nickname for him, which is "George Bush." The man left me howling. He was so relaxed and funny. It was good to see him in that setting. I remember why I voted for him in 2000. Since this is as close to a political post as I'm going to make in the next couple of weeks, may I just ask for prayers and good wishes for Sen. Obama's grandmother who is declining rapidly at home in Hawaii. I hope he makes it to her side in time to say goodbye. :-(

Doran
Here! We need a little lift, A joke to make us merry When hackles rise and tempers flare Posting shall be scary. Halloween and politics are not a festive mix. Last week I had a case of hives, And now I've got a tic! Look here! The sword! It doth arrive, Moderation on its blade, Along with P. and ABC So proudly these displayed! Ablaze, she comes, from Tennessee A minivan her steed, Beseeching us to take a breath Chill out, pipe down, take heed. So listen up, thou clay-brained guts! Sister Pam is dandy. Smile and nod, pass the dip, and keep decorum handy. :D

WTMindy
If only there was a new Harry Potter book coming out, we could have the perfect tri-fecta! Ode to Fall (in an Election Year) on the WTM boards We fight with our skilled repartee And at times discuss way too harshly! So now lightly we tread But how boring the thread If all that we did was agree! Pam and Doran, have I ever mentioned that I like you....a lot! Differences of opinion make life interesting. I'll give you that for sure. I guess it's just when it starts to feel like we're wielding a 2x4 that it gets tricky. ;) Back atcha on the liking thing.
