Ausmumof3
We've had a nasty virus here in the other side of the world too, with dehydration and weird cramps. I know this is probably staying the obvious but do you have any of that oral rehydration stuff - can make a big difference. If you can't handle liquids you can get ice blocks that are great. Terabith
Improving some. As long as I stay horizontal, I don't feel too terrible. I need to sleep about 18 hours. I am still running a fever and having shivering chills, headache, sore throat. When I get up, I feel pretty awful, but I know it's important to get up some to prevent pneumonia and blood clots and such. But mostly I wish someone would tuck me in bed and bring me a cold washcloth for my headache and reassure constantly bursting into tears me that it's going to be ok and help me get through the stupid homework I have for classes I'm taking.

Terabith
I was feeling a bit better, but I've been feeling worse as the day goes on. Plus I can't seem to stop crying.

Terabith
I saw the dr on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday last week. Will definitely check in with them tomorrow. I also have to finish a study guide and take a final exam Monday and another final exam on Wednesday, though I might could get an incomplete for the Wednesday one. Terabith
Today is day 8. I feel better than I did, especially while I'm lying down. When I get out of bed, I really struggle with the shaking and feeling more unwell. And as the day goes on, my fever goes back up, although it hasn't really been actually going away, just down. I'm just exhausted.

I'm just exhausted. It's following the same trajectory as my recent bout with the flu. The first week I was flat on my back with high fevers. The second week was better by inches--lower fever, less achiness. By the end of the second week I was done with fevers and felt more myself, but was weak. Terabith
I had to go take a history test. Halfway through, I was shaking so hard I could barely write. Came back and went back to bed, where I feel much better. But that was pathetic. Day 9 and temperature is still in upper 99's and my head aches. Terabith
I want to cry. Scratch that. I've been crying. I managed to throw out my back and am in agony. Terabith
Virus is improving, though still running fever off and on. Trying to stay out of bed during day. Back, however, is excruciating.
momacacia
Can you do a good, brothy soup with sea salt in it? Sometimes health food stores also have a Gatorade alternative called recharge which can help keep your blood sugar and electrolytes up too. Terabith
My back is in agony. I don't like narcotics but I'm begging for something. Still have low grade fever.

Terabith
Went to dr. No fever in office, yay! Pulse super high. Something with ribs, either infected or broken or something. Muscle relaxer, anti inflammatory, couple days worth of narcotic.

Ausmumof3
Huge hugs. If you are able to stay where you (assuming you are still with family) are for some time, I think you should. You sound like you need a spell of being cared for with love for a while. :grouphug:

Terabith
I am much, much better. Off narcotics which makes me feel much better. Realized some of what was making feel still sick were medication side effects of new psych med, which sucks because it works super well.

I haven't read any of the other responses so please forgive me if this has been mentioned already, but have you tried either diffusing Lavender essential oil or applying it (mixed with a carrier oil) to your pulse points and/or bottoms of your feet? It's a simple thing to do but really does help!
Terabith
Can't really do essential oils. They mess with my younger daughter's asthma. I like them, and when I was working in a preschool, I diffused. But using them at home doesn't work well for her.
