Daisy (our milk cow) is in labor!!

Recommended Posts

Woweeee. I'm so excited and sooo nervous! I can hardly stay away from her. Her contractions are about 5-10 minutes apart, but I am not sure what that means for a cow. Milk has been streaming and dripping out of her udder, and she has been pawing the ground. It may be a long, long night!

Our neighbors who are beef farmers came over to check her. It's just a matter of waiting at this point. They told us that it should be today or tonight.:w00t:

She is in serious labor, poor thing. I just feel bad for her!

Here is she resting inbetween contractions:

Here is her very impressive pre-calving udder. (It is so full and swollen that it has split in some places)

Here she is *during* a contraction:

And here she is laid out. Don't you just feel for her?

Poor Daisy, I'm feeling those contractions along with her. When does she get her epidural? :tongue_smilie:

Yes, I'd think that Lansinoh would work for her too. And colostrum smeared around on them would probably help too.

Please send more pictures when you can, Tracy.:grouphug:
