Perhaps not THE most depressing thing I've had to do.

But's it definitely makes the list.

We gave notice that we are moving out of our current rental mid-June, which means I now have run out of excuses to put off cleaning off and packing up and/or getting rid of the homeschool materials.

I mentioned to my husband yesterday how difficult I'm finding this, and he admitted that, if he'd had his preference, he would have arranged to be out of town while I worked on this, just so he wouldn't have to watch me be miserable.

Ugh. I hate this a lot.

We just moved across the country and I wasn't sure if we'd homeschool or not while I was doing my packing so I got rid of nearly everything.  I found it pretty depressing, too.  I had a large age gap between my eldest and youngest, so I had a lot of materials hanging around.  I loved homeschooling so clearing out my homeschool curriculum and resources was sad.

I hope you get through it quickly.  Maybe buy some ice cream.

Hugs. I've read many of your posts about how carefully and thoughtfully you've found resources to put together your own curriculum, so I am sure it's difficult. Treat yourself at the end of your project!

I do want to tell you your posts and old blog were a very big inspiration to me and I use them as encouragement and a how to for putting together things for my young children.

Hugs, Jenny.

May every last little scrap of paper that passes through your hands be a happy reminder of all you've shared with your children and each tiny accomplishment that brought them successfully to today!

[And here's another hug for good measure:  :grouphug: ]

One further thought:  maybe it would help to snap a few photos before you get rid of things.

Stinker. Tell him he has to take you out tonight for dinner and a movie.

I'm three years out from finishing, but dc are still here working/going to college locally. I'm s l o w l y letting things go after selling about half of it all when I graduated my youngest.  I still may end up keeping some. Of course ds says get rid of it all (he is keeping his English literature books from college though), but dd is very sentimental and wants every.single.book. Each year, we let some more go. I do think since I put so much into homeschooling, at least some of my identity is kind of with it all, and that makes it hard to turn loose. Maybe you feel the same way? Be gentle with yourself and maybe keep a few boxes of your favorites.
