Mama Geek
Does anyone have suggestions for a 4 year old that is going to be baptized? She has a children's bible and a necklace with a cross already. I am looking more for gift that she will have for a long time rather than something like a T-shirt. Chris in VA
What denomination? Do they do saints and/or icons? Prayer book? For someone quite small, I might do two gifts--maybe a stuffie (like a lamb--a "symbolic" animal) or a child's devotional, that would be "for now," and something more long-lasting/heirloom that she can appreciate later. PrincessMommy
even if she were Protestant I'd probably get her an icon of the guardian angel. It's a sweet icon and hardly going to offend the parents. here's one for a girl: http://www.light-n-life.com/icon-guardian-angel-with-girl-m-5-x-7.html
ktgrok
I always give christening mugs, it's tradition in my family, but another idea is to get her an adult bible, leatherbound, with her name on it. To keep forever.

Momofeat
When our dc were baptized, we gave them Christmas ornaments to commemorate the occasion.
J-rap
I've recently seen gifts of a Christmas ornament of a nativity scene and a decorated wooden cross to hang on a wall (above the child's bed?). They were both engraved with the baby's name and baptismal date. When my daughter was married, we got them a small wooden cross that had been hand painted in Latin America with lovely colorful designs. I think something like that would be nice too. City Mouse
I like to give Tomie DePaola's Book of Bible Stories.
JFSinIL
If Catholic, small statue of Virgin Mary. I have also seen nice frames at local Christian stores.
Beaniemom
I have seen pillowcases with prayers printed on them and the cases can be personalized. A lot were Catholic but some would work across denominations. https://www.prayerpillowcases.com
momto10blessings
A cross for her wall like this: https://www.catholiccompany.com/porcelain%2Dcross%2Dgirl%2D75%2Dinch-i1344/ Or this https://www.catholiccompany.com/small%2Dbaptism%2Dcross%2Dadornment-i11726/ A picture frame http://www.christianbook.com/apps/product?item_no=052211X;dv=m;en=google-pla;event=SHOP;kw=gift-and-home-0-20;p=1179710;gclid=CNuUqsTS5sICFcNZ7AodRBEA8w;item_code=WW I like the idea of a book too
plansrme
I received a charm bracelet with a cross charm on it. I have added charms to it over the years and still wear it today. I don't know if girls still wear charm bracelets. James Avery has some lovely faith-themed items.
ScoutTN
My children received photo frames with their names and the date inscribed on them. The Jesus Storybook Bible audio CD. Well done and fun too! Scripture songs or hymns for kids cds? I think it is very food for a child to have more than one Bible story book or picture Bible so I might ask the parents and get one she doesn't already have, perhaps one a bit ahead, to grow into. The art alone can be reason to have several - different artists communicate very different takes on the same stories. I like Michael Podesta's illustrated calligraphy. He does Bible verses, prayers and famous quotations.
Renthead Mommy
We have always given money, and that is what my son received from everyone also. It was put in his college account.
