wonderchica
Don't know if you're Christian, but I enjoyed The Handmaid and The Carpenter by Elizabeth Berg. It looks at Mary and Joseph as a love story. It's definitely fiction, but it made me think about their blessings and sacrifices in a different way. I thought it was lovely. A quick, short read. Annie Laurie
These are just fun, light reads, but I like to read Richard Peck's Grandma Dowdel series (children's series), and A Season of Gifts I always reread at Christmas time. Also, if you like mysteries, the Agatha Raisin series has a few set at Christmas time. Those aren't thinking books about the meaning of Christmas or anything though, if you're looking for that. Jane in NC
My favorite Christmas books were written by English author Miss Read: Village Christmas, No Holly for Miss Quinn and Christmas Mouse. (Those of you who are familiar with Jan Karon may know that Miss Read is the author who influenced her writing style.)
MrsMommy
Even though we don't do the whole Santa thing at our house, I love reading The Autobiography of Santa Claus and How Mrs. Claus Saved Christmas, both by Jeff Guinn. They provide an interesting, fictionalized historical account, and the other famous characters that show up in the books are amusing, to say the least. MommaOfalotta
I'll be the nerd. :D Every Christmas I read Holmes for the Holidays and More Holmes for the Holidays edited by Martin Greenberg. These are Sherlock Holmes Christmas-themed stories written by contemporary authors. All together there are 25 stories in the combined books, so one story per day takes me through to Christmas. A kind of Holmesian Advent calendar  This.Sounds.FANTASTIC! :D
jenangelcat
I read The Christmas Pearl every year. I just finished The Christmas Quilt and I'll be adding that to my yearly read. They both have lots of description of Christmas decor, cooking and traditions.

Susan in TN
Haven't read the other responses, but I liked Skipping Christmas (John Gresham) and A Cricket on the Hearth (Charles Dickens) - both fairly short.
