aggieamy
As a quick inexpensive present for friends I'm going to crochet some potholders. If you were my friends would you prefer for them to be in festive Christmas colors or the color of your kitchen? I'm undecided. I love the red and green at Christmas but I don't know if everyone will want to use them year round or only at Christmas.
Cinder
I would want something that not Christmas-y but not necessarily matching my kitchen. I'd want something I could use year-round, not just at Christmas.
Farrar
I think I'd prefer more normal colors. But one perk of doing Christmas colors is that you don't have to worry about matching anyone's kitchen decor. And I wouldn't dislike getting ones with Christmas colors. Baseball mom
I would use them year round no matter the color :D
OnTheBrink
I wouldn't care. I'd just be excited someone made something for me. :)
m0mmaBuck
I would use them year round regardless. I say do whatever is easiest for you, which is probably buying a large amount of festive yarn and going for it.
Desert Rat
Well, I've used Christmas colored pot holders year round, but I would prefer neutral colors. Oh, and my kitchen is white and very light green with red accents if you're so inclined. ;)
ktgrok
In the colors of my kitchen. That would be great!
Mommee & Baba
I would do solids. For example green one, red one, and cream one and stack them together and tie a ribbon around them. Christmas colors but not when pulled from the stack! :)
justLisa
I wouldn't care. I would probably put it in a frame and stare at it all day. No one makes me anything besides my kids. That said we are Christmas freaks and I don't mind looking at Christmas things all year
Carol in Cal.
I'd go with deep red only. That goes with Christmas and Valentine's day, and Fourth of July, and fall/harvest, so it would be useful but special for a lot of the year. I tend to hate varigated yarns. Chris in VA
I like Carol's idea of deep red. :D It's really sweet of you to go to such effort for your gift-giving.
Mrs Mungo
I would use them year round regardless. I say do whatever is easiest for you, which is probably buying a large amount of festive yarn and going for it. I agree. I wouldn't bother trying to match the colors of ALL of the kitchens. jenL
I LOVE homemade gifts and would love if more people gave them. With that said, I would make them in neutral colors or colors of the person's kitchen. What a thoughtful gift!
aggieamy
Great ideas. I think I'm going to do a deep red and then tie it to the bottle of amaretto that's going with it with a plaid Christmas colored ribbon. That way it looks Christmas-y when they recieve the gift but can still be used all year long. I really like the idea of a green, cream, and red potholder together but I don't know that I'm going to be able to crochet fast enough to finish by Christmas. :001_smile:
Laurie4b
Personally, I like having some things that are just for Christmas. I think it would be hard to know everyone's kitchen colors. On the other hand, potholders don't need to be displayed. Lots of people keep them in drawers, in which case, color doesn't matter.
Forget-Me-Not
Either :) I've got a whole drawer of them in assorted colors and patterns.
homeschool mom
I would prefer a solid color potholder. I would use it more often.:)
Catwoman
I would prefer something in a solid color, but my ideal would be white so I could bleach them when I wash them (or a dark color that won't show stains very easily.) I would be happy with anything someone made for me, though. :001_smile:
