Drawing into the Heart of Reading question
homeschool mom replied to DragonflyAcademy's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
You can read & do activities for 5 books one year & 5 books the next year, or do it all 10 one year, or repeat the guide over two years with easier books first & harder books second year. I have not used it but bought a guide to research it previously. -
If you shop at Costco, I have a few suggestions that are vegetarian: 1. Epicurean Specialty's Gourmet Bean Blend (beans, peas, & lentils) has a delicious vegetarian chili on the side label, my family asks for seconds & leftovers. 2. vegetarian burgers & buns found in the freezer section 3. breakfast for dinner: quiche with fruit salad & muffins. or make an egg casserole layered with peppers & cheese. 4. many Indian foods they have started carrying are vegetarian. 5. eggplant parmesan Please let us know what you serve. homeschool mom

You look like a happy family, very nice photos! Ginger -
My son needs a rolling backpack to replace his regular backpack, which is now too small. He will use the rolling backpack for junior & senior high, if that matters. Do you have any suggestions for a great brand? Anything to avoid or features to look for when I shop for this? :bigear: Ginger (We are former homeschoolers)

Usborne has a program called "10 weeks on an apple farm" that may have a few books. Ginger homeschool mom -
The link did not lead to amazon! I recently bought erasable pens, also.

A visitation/funeral WWYD?

I agree with OrganicAnn. Often family attends everything, but steps out for a few hours to take a break or grab a bite to eat. He should be able to go coach the game and spend enough time paying his respects. -
We liked "The New Way Things Work" book and kit by David Macauley.

Beautiful Feet Books (bfbooks) has a new literature/history study, I believe for this time period.

I attempted BF Geography a couple years ago with my son (about 8 yo at the time). He was too young to do much of the notebook or maps. They were a nice size, but we did not put them on display. They were a light tan color & maybe had brown lines. You add colored pencil & fill in the names. I think you could print something similar. Decide if you want to keep it in a notebook or frame it on a wall; & print that size. I remember two of the maps being similar in states they covered, one was vertical & the other horizontal. There are four & they each show a few states, not all 50.

Anyone ever made sunscreen?

I have never heard of this before, but I'd like to try it. So many cosmetics can be homemade, probably this can, too. -
Summer Bible Study for 6th Grader?
homeschool mom replied to lillehei's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Christian Light has summer Bible studies that come to mind. They start at K and go through 12. The Bible is covered over 12 years! I'm sure there are some six week studies, if I were at a Christian book store I would give you some more titles, but I can't right now. homeschool mom
