How much would you give?
homeschool mom replied to Kathryn's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I really think their attending is a gift, considering the long drive & hotel expense. It is very nice they can celebrate with their friend, & he will have that memory. Don't worry about adding money to a card, but do get a card. They will appreciate the time more than anything. -
We will do a summer workbook for 7th graders, & an hour of reading each day.

What are YOU reading right now?
homeschool mom replied to Kathryn's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I am reading Building Foundations for Scientific Understanding K-2 by Bernard Nebel. We are using something else, & I want to read it before I sell it! -
Has anyone used Beautiful Feet Books?
homeschool mom replied to *AM*'s topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
We used Early American History Primary for 2nd grade, there are two versions to it--basic & complete. For my son, basic was the way to go at that grade. He could discuss the books, & help with the timeline, but notebooking was not a skill he was ready for. We used Geography for 3rd grade. Again, mostly we read the Holling books & discussed them & did the maps together. The book choices were great. The teacher's manual had directions for questions to notebook answers to, we did them orally. Ginger homeschool mom -
How do I check the number of times I've posted? I want to know how close I am to 50, because I have books to sell.

Shepperd's software has online geography games. Play til you get 100%. With a co-op class I would try "10 day in___" games.

Please help me choose history for 2nd grade
homeschool mom replied to RainbowSprinkles's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
I would first determine if you want history to be a read aloud by you, or child reader. There are alot of leveled readers about history topics. My son found them more interesting than the history text. He liked the Magic Tree House series, especially. Also, If You Lived At the Time of series, Usborne Illustrated History of the Ancient World or other Usborne history books. We had many field trips that had a history theme, don't forget to consider your activites as part of history time. Just make sure you do plenty of language arts, & enough math. History can be covered so many ways. -

Your son is in my thoughts and prayers. I will lift him up to the Lord in prayer, asking for a full recovery. -
Husbands and Decluttering
homeschool mom replied to nova147's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I kept reading all the posts for hints to declutter because my husband is a pack rat. Actually, more like a hoarder. He is still buying (used) VHS tapes. He needs to pare back, but first I will have to decrease & give away alot of my saved stuff before I really get cooperation from him! -
Her husband ate the whole meal & thanked you for it! Her kids probably also enjoyed it. They may not have food this great at their home; or behavior as gracious as yours Forget about her behavior. Who knows what caused it, unless they offer an explanation later. (I skipped everything after the first page of responses.)

:iagree:I agree with Catwoman, your kids have not made friends, you and they are not enjoying it enough to keep investing your time. Leave the scout group and don't look back. You will find or start another activity. As you said, you are not shy, you will find your way to meet with others who want the same activities your aspie wants. :grouphug: Good Luck!

Only one, born 5 days past due date, after almost 20 hrs labor. -
What company can you mail your used curriculum to and have them sell it for you? I have heard of a couple like this and you receive a percent of the sale price. I cannot remember who they are:confused:

There is also another pass to buy: it includes the zoo, wild animal park, sea world & legoland. This is available at the tourist info right off the freeway. Other than that, I email Legoland when I am planning on going & ask what discounts are available. Sometimes a fast food restaurant or grocery store offers one. Legoland now has a water theme playground, & an aquarium next to them, for an additional fee you can go there, also.

Quick - Should I buy this as a gift?
homeschool mom replied to SJ.'s topic in General Education Discussion Board
I bought a balance board as a Christmas present a few years back. It never got used! It was a kids model, made of colorful plastic. Maybe if it were a grown up model? Anyway, my vote is NO, don't buy it, don't waste your money. -
I recently had my gallbladder out after suffering with pancreatitis. The surgery was delayed for five months until the doctors felt it was safe to do it. My best low fat food when I was sick was a Glucerna meal replacement drink--apple juice based with vitamins. After surgery, veggies & fruits were best. Most other foods in limited amounts.
