MissKNG
So we want to do a lot of tent camping this coming month. Unfortunately, I am such a light sleeper that sleeping in a tent is a nightmare. I figured I could take a mild sleep aid to help me. Any recommendations? I need something OTC and mild, I don't need to be put into a coma!:D Thanks! QueenCat
Tylenol PM helps me when I need a little something. No next morning after affects either.

OLG
When magnesium fails me I take Excedrin PM. Never wake up with that groggy feeling that Advil PM gives me. Don't take it more than a few times a year so have no idea what difference it would make taking it a few days in a row. Good luck! Maybe the outdoor air will make it easier to fall asleep! Wheres Toto
I will usually take one Advil PM, Tylenol PM or Benedryl if I just need a little help getting to sleep. One pill is 1/2 a dose. The active sleep ingredient in all three is the same - diphenhydramine.

Generic version of benadryl will probably be cheaper than the Advil or Tylenol PM versions, and with no additional drugs. Unisom tablets are doxylamine succinate. Their gelcaps and melts are diphenhydramine.
QueenCat
Benadryl. DS and I have the opposite happen with benadryl. Wires us up, which I learned with ds when the doctor suggested it as a short term solution when he was having issues.

zookeeper
I've had very good luck with a product called Alteril. I get it at Walmart. It's got melatonin plus some other things in it too. Plain melatonin doesn't work as well for me.

Flowing Brook
I'd second the melatonin. Works without leaving you groggy in the morning.

redsquirrel
I take melotonin. Most people start with 3mg, but I need 6. ETA: a sleep mask has been a wonder in helping me sleep. I wish I had started using one when I was a teenager! I go camping next week and I am thinking maybe ear plugs are a good idea......
