  1. And really in the us soy is a listed pesticide. One of those ones that causes insects to explode or something. So no wonder it causes belly pain.
  2. For my family it is soy. 3/4 of us react with stomach pain.
  3. my older ds by 20 mos old was saying things like, "I dont know Mommy, where is the remote?" that seems soooo far off compared to my 14 month old who mostly just grunts and shrieks :glare:
  4. Wait I'm confused. Are you more worried about the fact that they fall asleep with a tv on or that they are in daycare until 6 pm and then sent to bed at 7? The latter is much more concerning to me. One hour to play, eat, do homework, do chores, and develop relationship within the family structure? That seems really insufficient. Granted I dont know what time they have to get up in the morning either. My kids sometimes are put to sleep on the couch snuggled with me while I watch a show or two. They were sleeping about 8:30 pm to 7-8 am but my husbands schedule changed and now he gets home around 8:30 and there is no hope if getting them to sleep immediately because the desire to build relationship overrides the need for an "early bedtime" - now they often sleep more like 10 pm to 9 am. I don't think falling asleep to the tv is the problem. I have been doing that for twenty years.
  5. I really only keep my blog for me. Although I write as though I have an audience, and wouldn't mind one, the actual activity of maintaining it makes me feel centered. I try to post two or three times a month. If I don't, so be it. I find social networking to be more of a time suck. I could spend hours hitting reload for new posts.
  6. After adding on to our house this year, I think I can safely say we will never again buy a house that needs to be added on to for us to fit.
  7. Most of the above. Except for the commute thing, and we do live near railroad tracks. Also the house next to ours got condemned shortly after we moved in. The way we saw it, there's only one way to go and that's up. We knew it would either be remodeled or rebuilt, which would increase our prop value without costing us a dime.
  8. (I think I may have put this in the wrong place - hard to navigate from my phone!)
  9. We started nature journals today. It was kind of a task for him  but he obliged anyway. His first assignment was to scribble with the colors that he sees. He picked the green map pencil. I encouraged him to hold it like he would for writing. He kind of fiddled with it. Did a few quick scribbles, then scampered off again. It didn't help that it was a bustling morning at the park with a birthday party going on. But I was still proud of him for obliging my request. Now to decide what to have him do next. He's only at the tracing and scribbling phases. Maybe collect some leaves to trace? Do you keep a nature journal with your early elementary aged kids? What do you put in it?
  10. my current obsession is my 90s pop station. i've effectively groomed it to only play boy bands, spice girls, xtina, britney, aaliyah, destiny's child, brandy, and TLC. i have no idea why that makes me so happy. other phases we've gone through are a Peter Paul and Mary station, a Miranda Lambert station, and an Adele station. :bigear:
  11. When I was pregnant with my 13 month old, I bought a yard of double width unbleached muslin, cut it in half so it was single width, hemmed the edges, and tie dyed them. I used them as light weight swaddlers since he was born in June, and now he and his brother play with them like playsilks - they become capes, tents, peekaboos, dresses, etc.
  12. I think as long as it's kid-led, eclectic, and in balanced with every day life, there's nothing wrong with doing kindy for a child who is hungry for it :)
  13. Can you do themed art projects? Before fiar? MFW early preK manipulatives, hwt get set for school. Letter of the week? Montessori stuff Itu. My son is "too young" for school, and yet is teaching himself to read, cannot handle boredom or free time, and has an insatiable hunger for novel stimuli.
  14. A Mei tai, a pair of lactating breasts, a maid service, and a husband who cooks
