What have you accomplished today?

Recommended Posts

I worked today, so nothing was accomplished around the house or with regards to homeschooling. Well, wait - I flipped through Seton and Memoria Press catalogs, but they were outdated because I had forgotten about them at the bottom of my work tote. I spilled crackers in my tote this morning, and when I cleaned it out I found all sorts of nifty things I had lost to the black hole that is my bag.

I also learned how to say 'milk' in Hindi today :) I was all proud of that until I read what the rest of you people had accomplished today LOL.

Signed,

Happy Slacker

I am babysitting for a friend today...a baby and a 4 year old so not getting much done except for breakfast, lunch, supper...dishes....some laundry....baths for everyone. Nothing really fun or unusual.

I did run to Lowes and return a special order piece of counter laminate that was so the wrong color. I wasn't sure that they would except return of SO, but they did. It was an expensive, stressful mistake and I am so relieved to have such a worrisome errand done with.

If it is the only tangible thing I accomplish today (and basically it is going to be), I am still going to be happy. :D

I did a lot today myself.

-Got a pedicure and manicure with the shellac polish (french manicure)

-went shopping for makeup, hair stuff, and shower gel

-came home and fixed lunch

-took a nap (it's hard shopping :001_smile:)

-threw away old makeup and replaced with new makeup in my makeup drawer and cleaned that drawer out good

-watched a Netflix movie, X-Men 2. I am a little behind on movies

-washed dishes

-cleaned up the 2nd bathroom (not totally done, planning to do more tomorrow)

-finally organized my yarn. I have it all in three different bags plus one huge bin and a smaller one for needles and accessories.

-Took the garbage to the garbage bin thingy not sure what to call it; I live in an apartment complex

For me, that is a pretty busy day. I feel like I have done something. Tomorrow, I will do more cleaning and some schoolwork. We do schooling at odd times. Basically, I have to get the house ready and cleaned so when I go off to work for 7 straight days I won't feel like I haven't done anything on my off week.

Well, we cooked for 50 people. Then we picked up people to help and a table to serve the food on and chairs for people to sit on. Then I went to the store because I forgot to buy forks. We went to a migrant worker camp and fed lots of kids and some mommies. Then we searched for a family we had heard of consisting of a pregnant mama and 4 little boys in need to give them the remainder of our food. After 3 stops we found her. She is rail thin. Too thin in my mind to have a healthy pregnancy outcome. She said her husband is in jail for beating her. We gave them beans, rice, beef, a calcium rich poblano sauce, salad, watermelon, tortillas, cookies, and papaya agua fresca. We told her we'll come back with more next week. I'm going to include a bag each of uncooked beans and rice. I'd cook them for her, but I don't have the means to cook more than I already am. Then we drove a helper home and gave the rest of the watermelon to her family. Then I forgot to drop the table and chairs back off. Oops. Then we came home and I took a bath.

Wow, I am wishing I could've been there to help and experience being amongst wonderful, giving people. What an inspiring thing you did today...

Woke up at 5am for our Championship swim meet, sent kids home and volunteered for the 2nd half of the meet, kept my friend's daughter with us after the meet, took the kids to play at the creek, made Mac and cheese for dinner, reheated some jambalaya for dh and I, and spent way too much time on pinterest in between.

Had coffee on the deck with dh, enjoyed the sunshine, the skeeters weren't too bad.

Made my first-ever attempt at pruning a bush. It's sort of better than it was.

Vacuumed out the van.

Hung clothes on the line, made lunch, did dishes.

Helped dd clean her room, decluttered some of her clothes, washed her ceiling, vacuumed.

Made dinner - mutton ribs, noodles, romaine from the garden.

There are some spots of body soap on the carpet in the boys' room (from a leaky bottle in a hockey bag, back during hockey season). I tackled one of them a couple months ago, then forgot about it. Did another one today. Should be just one more to go.

Will tidy up the kitchen, fold laundry, then time for a game or reading aloud with the kids before bed.

I finished both my bedtime books and can't decide what to read tonight - whether to be virtuous and work on the long-abandoned Don Quixote, or maybe start through the HP series again in anticipation of the new movie.

Dh, dd, the dog and I went on a road trip through the Rockies. We packed steak and a grill and found an incredibly beautiful place to have lunch. We took the dog to the dog park so he could play fetch before the road trip. I can't think of anything that was more important than what we did.

Today was our Catholic homeschool convention. I was the chairman of the committee, so that means I got to oversee the set-up of the exhibit hall and registration, give workshops presenters the it's-time-to-stop-speaking sign, bust people for not wearing their wristbands, explain to an exhibitor why there wasn't an electrical outlet in her space, and draw tickets for door prizes. I also got to listen to the feedback of our attendees, who seemed to love the workshops (16 of them), talk to people I've only e-mailed with for many months, and appreciate the wisdom and knowledge of our workshop presenters, all except two of whom are local homeschooling parents (those two were wonderful, as well).

I am worn out mentally (turns out that I'm actually an introvert--all this face time with 100 or so other people...:ack2:).

The other committee members were amazing. One has a 2-month-old baby; one left almost immediately afterward to drive to Canada with her dh and 7 dc; one could only stay until 10 a.m. because of some serious family issues; one's dh was being installed as an officer in an association but she couldn't go because she was overseeing the tear-down of the pipe and drape and tables, which were loaded into her truck so she can take them back on Monday. And our teens worked on exhibit hall set-up yesterday.

A friend who isn't even homeschooling any longer and who just moved to Austin helped me with some of the pre-registration bag-stuffing, and worked as Mr. Ellie's assistant all day (he was recording all of the workshops).

And we are on the church calendar for next year, June 2. :D

I might spend tomorrow morning in my jammies. We'll see.:D

After posting to the thread about planning but not doing last night I decided to get my butt in gear. Last night I dug all our scissors/markers/crayons etc out of the boxes in the basement, then repurposed my armoire from my bedroom and created an area for school to keep our workboxes and supplies (rather than do like last year and dig through boxes and bins everytime we needed something).

Today so far I have reorganized/scrubbed my pantry. This was something I had been planning to do for almost a month but kept putting off.

I also primed the bench, coat hooks and shoe shelf by the front entrance and put the first coat of paint on the coat hooks and shoe shelf. I bought the paint for those projects last summer, but after painting the bureau I keep there put all the paint away and never finished the project. By the end of today they will be finished and looking fabulous. I am already excited by the splash of color that first coat of paint has brought to the entrance.

So what have you accomplished today? Was it something you have been meaning to tackle for a while but never got around to?

I didn't do much around the house, but did a few other things!

I cleaned up, did a few dishes while SO cooked dinner.

I worked out this morning and I'm already sore!

I worked about six hours today writing articles. I'm still doing that, btw!

I love it when veteran moms give back to the hs community like that. You rock!

Its Sunday- we went to Swapmeet at 7am. I bought a beautiful hand knitted shawl, a plant, and an emerald green silk scarf. Then we went to the Farmers Market where I bought organic fruit and veg, non organic fruit and veg, and breakfast, and then socialised for 2.5 hours drinking chai and listening to a folk singer. It's a wonderful community meeting place. It was bitterly cold today though- I was glad for the shawl I bought.

I also bought flowers which are now around the house, and the kitchen is clean.

This afternoon I am doing work on the computer.

It is not necessarily one of those highly productive days, but it is a good day, for a cold, wintery day.

Nothing! (Sabbath here)

I did clean the kitchen around 10p

Then I watched dh and dd9 play Chess

Then I played our new ps3 game (Lost) and Got killed by the smoke monster about 100 times

Tomorrow I am motivated to clean out the fridge and pantry out before we leave on vacation in 4 days. and do a heap of laundry so I am not packing last minute.

Monday I am motivated to plan our schooling for July 20th -Aug 29th before our next trip.

What did I do today? I about had a nervous breakdown. I'll spare you the sordid details, but suffice it to say, I had to work in a totally unfamiliar office with a lazy, whiney slacker who won't do her job, threw me under the bus regarding something that SHE was told to do, totally blew off another duty she was supposed to be doing thereby leaving it for me to take care of, and after all that, I lost my car in the parking garage and thought I'd never get home.

The lazy whiney slacker has a meeting with management Monday regarding her lack of ability to do her job. No one's upset with me.

I've done no domestic duties today, but I think I've endured enough! :willy_nilly:

Before bed last night I was able to finish all the painting projects I had started. Create the skeleton plan for Austin's school schedule (for his special needs class at least. They expect so little from these kids he should be done the whole year worth of work before christmas), and have started in on planning the first quarter for dd. I read 4 more chapters of Hunter's book to him and got the kids bathed and in bed. I neglected any actual cleaning though so I know what is on the agenda for today.

It is 9:45 am here and so far I have put my entrance way back together and washed the floor. I have cleaned my mudroom and switched the laundry. I have Fed the kids and moved Hunter onto the livingroom sofa so that as soon as I am done eating my breakfast I can clean the mstr bdrm. Today will be a cleaning day to get the house whipped back into shape before I attack anymore projects
