chickenpatty
We were given 3 cans (among other non-expired wonderful things) by someone who is moving & cleaning out his pantry. Is is okay to use?
Mom22ns
I would, but I'm like that. If you are cooking it you are safe.

Aggie
I would if the can is in good shape. I posted previously that my cousin, who is a PhD in microbiology and pharmacology and is also an MD, told me that canned goods are good for years. If it smells bad I'd toss it, but other wise we'd use it.
Margo out of lurking
I would, as long as the can had no bulges or looked otherwise suspicious. It's canned food. Yes, I'd absolutely use it without a second thought.

I have very strong feelings about the weirdness that seems to be in our country with the paranoia towards food. If the can is bacteria free and sealed in 2010 why would it be other now?:001_huh:
HappyCrazyMama
I would use it and not give it a second thought.

gardening momma
I would, but would probably not use it in something I'm serving to anyone outside my immediate family.
akmommy
I would. Many items are good well beyond their use by dates and this includes most can goods. Manufacturers have put a date on their goods per FDA regulations. These dates are often fairly conservative. So unless it smelled or looked bad I would use it. Suzanne in ABQ
We were given 3 cans (among other non-expired wonderful things) by someone who is moving & cleaning out his pantry. Is is okay to use? If the top and bottom are flat (not bulging) I would use it.

Beth in OH
I would definitely use it, although I would expect to have to really mix up the contents. The milk solids tend to sink to the bottom and shaking the can might not be enough to redistribute them.
SilverMoonlight
No, I wouldn't.
