geotan
the amout of people on this forum just overwhelms me. How do you make sense of it all? I think its just to big...
dm379
start small. just read one of the sub-boards. Soon you'll work your way up to the required 12 hours a day it takes to keep up with this place. (kidding!) I know for me it helps to subscribe to the threads I really want to read. In The Great White North
This forum is wonderful! Just do a search on any topic even vaguely related to homeschooling or a specific curriculum, and the answer is there!
Barb_
Please don't feel like you have to read everything. Search out what you want and then skim the cream. Welcome :D Barb
NanceXToo
Post questions and threads when you want to. And read the ones that interest you or relate to you after skimming titles. Some of the forums might not really apply to you. I tend to only go on this one and the K-8 curriculum for the most part. Mostly this one. You'll get the hang of it! Welcome. :)

Food4Thought
If you click on "New Posts" up in the blue bar, you'll get a feel for what's happening at any given moment during the day. I think it's nice having such a large and diverse group - when you really need advice about curriculum, it's all here.

Saille
I thought the same thing when I first got here. Now I have a process for skimming through the new posts. But honestly, this is the best homeschooling forum out there in terms of diverse opinions and a wide, wide range of experience. Stick around. Pamela H in Texas
I don't read even close to 1/10 of everything and I mostly stick to this board rather than the other boards though I've been to those for particular reasons. Been here for ages. Tried to quit a couple times, but....obviously I failed!
anissa
My new goal in life is to get enough posts to be a beekeeper! So long to go....

PhunandFonics
If it makes you feel any better, I've been on this board for a few years and I only have a little over a 100 posts. I just read what interests me, usually using the search option. Don't let the mega-posters worry you.;) I take everything here in small doses *when* I have time! How can you do that? :tongue_smilie: I'm addicted. I sometimes wake up and say to myself, "No WTM forum today - strictly school, laundry and filing." My filing is really piling Up. Luckymama
I am very grateful that this forum IS so large! When we made the decision in January to homeschool our youngest, I went searching and searching for an online community. I wanted one with boards that move *fast*, with lots of questions and answers, and discussions on a wide variety of topics. I am ever-so-thankful I followed a mention (not even a link, so I had to dig through google) on someone's blog about something they had read on the WTM forums. As for the number of threads to deal with, I just hover my mouse over the listings on the forum to see if the thread might be something I'm interested in. No point in clicking on it if it has no relevance to me :) I don't reply that much, only when I feel I have something that adds to the discussion in a meaningful way. Plus replying takes a long time!
