  1. Another early welcome to the area. Tulsa is a great place to homeschool, and live in general.
  2. I just got a Notgrass bundle and saved $40! Thanks for the code!!!
  3. Lol...we saw a wholesale truck driving through town after delivering to a resteraunt and followed them back to the warehouse!
  4. We found a whoelsale supplier of fruits and veggies. Each week we call up and place an order for a case of apples, case of oranges, case of bananas, tomatoes, potatoes, etc. We go pick up at their warehouse, and pay cash. The savings are wonderful! This is the place that supplies fruit and veggies to area resteraunts and small grocery stores. The owner said we are the only family that comes in to do this, I assume because most families wouldn't eat as much produce as we do. ;) We spend right around $100 per week on fruit and veggies, then spend about $100 at Sam's to finish off the groceries.Stir fried rice and veggies with egg(we have chickens) is a staple. Between meals the kids are free to eat as many fruit pieces as they want, as long as they finish it. Bagged shredded cheese is probably the most processed thing we eat.
  5. I would consider a banana wrapped in a wheat wrap with a stripe of nutella to be a healthy part of breakfast. I have no problem with sugar though.
  6. We would like to participate again this year.
  7. We participated last year and it was fantastic! Please add me to the list again. :)
  8. I am an Army veteran and my sister , brother, mother, and father were Marines.
  9. DH has vetoed Duncan and Verity. If we have two more daughters I think he will consent to Verity in the end, but he will never agree for Duncan. I have managed to avoid having to use Gunther so far, but may use it as a middle name if we have another boy.
  10. After you have had him for awhile you will be able to see his hungry style(our guy goes up on his branch and stares at the rat cage lol!)but I would keep trying every week. The general rule of thumb is the food should not be bigger than the snakes biggest section. Last week I didn't have a medium rat for Copper so I gave him two smalls...I know our zoo feeds multiple smaller feeders as well. Going down a size won't hurt, but they definitely won't eat anything they think is too big.
  11. Pythons can definintely be finicky eaters! I agree about the warmth. Also make sure their is some humidity in the enclosure. Our ball python eats live. Do you have somewhere your guy can eat from? What I mean is they are ambush predators and like to strike out from a hidey hole. We have a boa as well and she is the easiest thing in the world to feed, but Copper, our python, went an entire 9 months without eating a couple years ago. I was trying every single trick I could. I know now that he wants a dark place to eat from, he will only strike from his boot(we cut the foot off a rubber boot and he loves it!), and he obviously doesn't eat when he is shedding, but also not for 3 days afterwards. I hope your snake eats soon for you. Just keep offering!
  12. We built a triple bunk in one of our bedrooms and are getting ready to build a second one in the next room. I liked the Ikea bunk that has the bottom bunk nearly floor level so we did that( it is high enough to slide the vacuum hose under and get the dust bunnies), and the top bunk is not really much higher than a regular bunk.
  13. No c-sections/scheduled births. Dh- Friday Me-Monday Trinity-Wednesday Christian-Sunday Gavin-Wednesday Logan-Friday Griffon-Saturday Jubilee-Thursday Epiphany-Saturday Lucian-Wednesday Not a Tuesday out of the lot of us.:D
  14. Lol...hormonal me is actually shedding tears over this sweet baby! Autumn is doing great now. :D I wonder if in the wild the mom would be staying away is also because the afterbirth might bring other animals in?
  15. There is a shadow by the hay rack, I think there is a person making her look over there.
  16. :D I am another obsessive headcounter. If we are with another family I count their children as well, seperately.:tongue_smilie:
  17. My family stopped being polite when given the news after my second child. It really hurts! After the reactions from our announcement of our fourth I changed my tone. I flat out said," We want to let you know something. We are having a new blessing, and are very happy about it. Please keep in mind that I am emotional right now, and if you are unhappy with our choice tell someone who won't repeat it to me." The straightforwardness is a little hard for me , as I like to keep the peace, but it works. And Congratulations!:D
  18. Meals: I line the plates up and dish them. Brian isn't home to eat with us so it is usually rather casual. Some of our favorites are haluski(cabbage and noodles), lasagna, soup...lol...basically food. We all really enjoy food. Actually, every single one of us would probably pick sushi as our fave, but we don't get to indulge very often due to $$$. Co-op: We are not in a group or co-op anymore and I am so glad. I totally miss the friendship oppurtunities I thought would be there, but honestly they never materialized and it was never worth it. The quiet game: The bigger kids went6 hours without talking one time. It was very, very odd. They are stubborn beasties and probably would have gone longer had Gavin not fallen asleep and then woke up and asked what time it was, having forgotten the game.
  19. Settlers of Catan, card games like Magic and Pokemon, Apples to Apples is a fave, Harry Potter Scene It,Madgab, Farkle, Boggle, and Guess Who. I have never heard of Killer Bunnies, I am going to look that up. I love thrift store games! If I ever find a Settlers or epansion at a thrift store it will be a dream. I did find a bin of Pokemon and Yugioh cards at the local store last week for a nickle a piece and snagged a ton.
